Introducing Marshall. He's 10 months now, 7 in the pictures. He has been birdy since he came out of the womb. My ex-girlfriend bread the lab that I got her in high school, and gave me marsh as a trade back. I took pheasant wings over when the puppies were 3 weeks old and he wouldn't leave it alone, and slept on it. "I want him." My dad took him out with our other dog's today and he limited. Marshall flushed and retrieved two of the roosters, several hens, and caught a cripple. I can't wait for christmas break to roll around so I can get out of the classroom and get in the field with my new bird dog!

I have a chocolate Abby too. She is going to be 12 soon. Can't find it in my heart to leave her home though. She still hunts hard and gets around well. I have some amazing memories behind that dog. One day I went out by myself after school and she flushed a rooster 10 feet from the truck. I winged him and he ran a hundred yards or so. Abby ran him down and on her way back she hit a scent trail and flushed two roosters with the first bird still in her mouth. I sh*t my pants and got one of them on the third shot somehow. I have yet to see that since. I don't know how a dog can distinguish a new scent with a bird still in it's mouth, but she did. I ended up getting my limit that day, and shooting about a box and a half at quail, only scratching down 5. l love that dog and hate to see her age. My buddy's dog Jack, who he retired this year, and Abby were a force during our after school hunts in high school. Long live the Jack/Abby team. I wish I could clone them.
