Title: Summer steelhead for maybe a whitetail hunt???
Post by: WDFW Hates ME!!! on January 01, 2008, 12:10:11 PM
Not sure if someone would want to trade a few steelhead trips down here on the lower columbia for a hunt on the east side??? Not sure if that is fair, but i have never chased whiteys before. I have a fool proof SH spot. We do a little plunking from June untill august and we catch more than we need. So if ya like steelhead or wantot get your kids into it let me know. My 8 year old has caught 19 two years ago and 10 last year. Great place for the kids...

Plunking??  Wow!  Must be a can't miss spot.  Wish I could help, but I'm in the same boat as you.....great Steelheading spots......no Whitetail spots.

Nice!  I wish I lived closer to the Columbia.  I know when I'm down at Cathlamet fishin' for Springers, those bankies usually do well.  I heard the Steelhead fishin' down there come June is pretty good too.

This is my brother in law. We all grew up fishing the rivers for steelhead and salmon. We pretty much just drift fish with bait now. It is the most productive way to catch fish. Plus you get to see more of the river:)  Now that I live in Moses Lake I don't get to go as much but they all still live over there. If anyone is interested I could hook them up.

How big of buck are you looking for? Rifle, Bow, Muzz? I think we could work something out. I Bow and Muzz you would have a better chance at a nicer buck but rifle season we could get you in on one as well. Would you have a problem taking me and my wife and kids out fishing? There is no such thing as for sure in the whitetail world but this year we have gone 11 for 13.  ;) Better than most. I don't run a guide service I like to call it a friends service.

sounds like you fish near the mouth of the elochoman..... I plunk near bonny, caught over 100 last year and and over 300 the year before, best day last year was 17, the year before 25... but now I fish mostly out of my sled, also never been skunked, bank or boat

Teacherman, i don't run a guide service either. I like to fish with my son, he is 9. I would gladly take your family fishing. Our best day was 22 in July. Plus it is very relaxing, i plunk with s-n-glo's with prawns. We set our poles and then sit back and BS.
