Title: Snowgoose permit and aint got a clue
Post by: washelkhntr on October 30, 2009, 05:38:35 PM
OK, Im not new to waterfowl hunting, but I am new to snow goose hunting. and low and behold I have a permit to hunt them on 14 November....yes that a Saturday. :)

I am totally confused about these rules..... If there can only be 4 people to a assigned area, do all 4 of them have to have the permit, or only one of them?

Someone chime in here and help a Sailor get his first snow....

All of you guys need your snowgoose cards. getting drawn for the quality hunt doesn't classify as a snowgoose card. You have to record time of kill, date and county!

Everyone needs two pieces of paper to hunt in the Quality units:

1)  A written authorization to hunt for snow goose in Goose Management Area 1
2)  A written authorization to hunt Snow Goose Quality Hunt Unit

If your buddies didn't participate in the drawing.  There is a way to get authorization for the quality units.  Print a Snow Goose Quality Hunt Authorization online.   Get started here.

http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/goose/quality_hunt/authorization.php

Then all they need is the snow goose authorization for area 1 which is where you record your birds.

Do you have any snow goose decoys.  I think they require at least 2 in your spread.

Anyone know if there is such a thing as a harvist report for the hunts . Would be kind of nice to know if the snows are in or if your just wasting your time driving hundreds of miles?

Only a few Snows on Fir Island as of last week.  Was told by a farmer who lives on Fir Island that he only saw 10 birds on the entire island.  The big flock that was there at the end of Nov split and half moved to fields south of Fir Island and the others moved North.  None are using the Quality Hunt fields at this point.  They may return before the end of season, but I would be surprised.
