Well, had a fun day Sunday, elk were around. Saw  a 2x3 bull in with about 20 cows. That was the only bull I saw all weekend. I sure am glad just to be able to get out and elk hunt!

Next year will be even worse I promise you that.  The year after that will be even worse than the one before it.  That is unless the WDFW does something.  The bull to cow ratio is 5:100.  In that ratio the WDFW counts spikes.  So really the mature bull to cow ratio is only 2:100.  The calf to cow ratio is only 20:100.  This ratio is far below the ratio required to sustain an elk herds numbers.  I hope the true spike thing works but I'm afraid it's too little too late.  I hope next weekend goes better for you.

That's good to hear.  Were they all in one group?  I hope they make it through as well.  Anyword yet on how any of the branch tag holders are doing?

I saw a pic of the rifle rut tag in there and that bull was enormous.   :yike:

Saw a couple of game wardens hauling ass by my house on the way up to the Naneum yesterday.  Don't know if they were just driving fast or going to check something out.  It occurred to me that somebody might not have read the regs this year and shot a 1 X 2.

I am trying to get more info on a tag holder I know getting a big bull. The info I have so far is it was taken in the Naneum area. My source said it was "big". the Tag holder was accompanied by veteran hunters with good pack animals. So I have no reason to doubt the info. I really want a picture!

This weekend there was a cow and 2 two points killed illegally in the Colockum. 2 on Saturday and one on Sunday. And yes I saw them in the game wardens truck. And yes they got the shooters. I on the other hand didn't see any live elk at all.

C-Money is the big bull you are talking about the rifle rut tag bull.  Because if so then yeah that bulls is massive.  I mean easily 380 or so.  That bull was super cool as well.

winshooter I'm glad they caught the POS's that shot those elk illegally.

No Colockumelk, guess this bull was shot last week. I went to high school with the guy and was good friends with him. I am trying to contact him, but my friend that has his phone number is still up after a spike. Guess the tag holder passed on numerous branch bulls till he found the one he wanted.

Well tell your buddy congrats.  I'm sure he waited a long time to draw that tag.  I'd have held out too.  I'm glad he got one.  I bet it was worth the wait.
