Does anyone know if this is legal or not? :dunno:
-
100% legal from what i know, i have been trying for along time and upland birds also got a few of them but no fowl yet
-
just looked it says it is unlawful to hunt:
game birds in a manner other than with a firearm or bow and arrow.page 21 waterfowl book
-
Yep, The problem is they can sometimes fly quite a distance. Are you planning on field shooting?
-

Moss, you have told me about how you shoot... I don't know if you can shoot one outta the air. :chuckle:
-
I shot one off the ground with my bow once......sumbitch flew about 500 yards and 3 fields over before it died and fell outta the sky. Then a herd of cattle trampled, blew snot and pooped on it. Damned cows! True story.

use a blunt when they are flying it will break bones... saw it on a TV show Feathered Affliction it think. the dude was shooting geese from a lay out blind with guys and shotguns backing him up.
-
it's legal and it's a blast!! If you're shooting them on the ground then just make sure you use a broadhead with a large cutting diameter, aim for the fold in the wing.
a lot of times you'll get multiple shots at a flock.
-
well mossback looks like i had better fletch up some more flu flus. geese are just like the tennis balls right? u throw em i will shoot em! :chuckle:
-
Always thought this would be a great way to reduce those pesky resident birds in parks and on golf courses.... or scuba gear and a gunnysack.

That has *censored* movie all over it, I would pay to see that :chuckle:
Seriously though I would love to try it, if any of you Moses guys or other fowlers would mind a tag along or two. How would the guillotine heads work?
-
I have shot several with my bow when I was on the deer team on base, it was fun and didn't have to pick through the breast for pellets.
-
i would use a big rubber blunt stun em long enough to ring there neck! knocks the heck outta grouse rabbits and does wonders for that pesky neighbor cat!!

I have a long bow and a recurve and would have a good time trying that.

doesn't it go through???
I've shot lots of grouse with rubber blunts and it usually goes through.
maybe that's the wonder it does on the neighbors cat :chuckle:
-
From my experience a rubber blunt doesnt go through a cat.......... just bounces off em! they live......its kinda nuts.........Im pretty sure cats do have nine lives

yea i have shot through grouse and rabbits when they were one the ground but i think a goose in the air would just crush it. those darn cats are tuff!! hard headed things!
-
I was thinking about those guillotine broad heads they use on turkey's -- don't know ? any thoughts ?
-
I would use the same thing that Rambo used to blow up the bridge. By the way next time time see that movie look at the head he used, it was a broadhead cover for the old style rotating razorback 5
