i learned watching h2ofowlr last year he doesn't mess around with the ducks.
that didn't take long at all.
-
Jeez I've got like 20. :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
i got 1
havent been able to find any area to hunt around my area
-
does that 100 include any coot? with a 7 bird limit... that's at least 15 days in the field already ??? with geese included, looking at like 9 days min? unless you include coots.
-
That's ducks and geese included. Total waterfowl.
-
man that's a lot of birds already
-
:o jesus... do you work? wow. put me down for 9! thats only 4 days in the field though, and 3 came today... man i suck! :'(
-
Hope your getting rid of em just as fast. :tung:
-
wow! that is nuts! that many already! dang! way to go! I dont even get to that in a season because of school...
-
Just sent down the first batch this weekend to be made into pepperoni. Stocking up the freezer.
-
Congrats!!!! Thats a lot of huntin'. I thought I was on a role with 56 in the bag. I think I need to get my priorities strait. :chuckle:
But all jokes aside, thats pretty freakin' cool! Im jealous.
-
how many bands? have a feelin this is really gonna make me :'(
-
Only 3 so far this season.
-
Those are crazy numbers I'm just passed 20 and thought I was doing well. Way to go.
-
wow 18 for me no geese yet just ducks only got out 5 times
-
I've been averaging 3.3 birds/hunt on very public land hunts.
-
Only hunted private fields 3 times this season. The rest were on public spots. Need more northerns down to hit the other spots.
-
I'm hoping to get three days in a row out this weekend. Friday will be up north, start with puddlers, then possibly venture into the salt again now that I have my card printed (see if I can't find that harli), then Sat and Sun stay home and hunt private land in south king county... even with 3 limites i'll be a long ways away from 100 though! (unless I can get into some coot and snipe, hehe).
-
3 days 16 birds. 6 on the opener, 10 the next weekend. A good start for me with minimal days in the field. Gotta get out more!!! Going this weekend, got a few spots that should produce limits lined up.
-
i have been 3 times and i still suffer from CHS........ :bash: :bash:
-
Until Sunday (18 birds, 8 hunters) we have had a pretty good year so far. Before Sunday I think we averaged 35 birds with 5.5 hunters per trip, all public.

I don't do the large groups anymore. I had a spot down south years back where we would hunt 15-20 guys in a long custom pit blind that was in the middle of a flooded corn field. We used about 1000 duck decoys and by the time they hit the ground, you didn't know who's bird was who's. It was a good shoot. The group usually was limited out by 10:00 or 11:00. A large pile of ducks.

Sounds like a blast, but you're right it can be a lot of work. For us the hardest part was communication. It was raining and blowing, so everyone had hoods on and we were in laydowns, so telling everyone where birds were and calling shots was pretty difficult. Definitely fun every once in a while though.
-
that pit blind deal sound awsome to me
-
Good to see someone banging them up over there. Been tough around here so far, need another push of fresh birds.
-
Season started out good for me and has gotten progressively worse:
7, 7, 7, 2, 1, 1, 0, 0 = 25
Somebody’s been out there educating the ducks (maybe it’s me).

pit blinds are awesome :chuckle:

I got 38 ducks and 1 goose so far this season. I made a goal to shoot 200 ducks this season I'm on track so far.
-
I past the 100 shots mark ahwhile ago. :chuckle: That should be 100 ducks/geese you would think right..Not.
-
do you plan to eat 100+ ducks
if so what is the secret recipe that makes them so great
i wrap mine in bacon with pepper and they turn out fine
any other suggestions
-
Pepper stick duck jerky or summer sausage is the only way to fly for that many.

Trap shooting "clay" birds??? :chuckle:

hey duckmen1, we made some duck last nite and it was awesome, first time trying it this way. Cut them into strips like BK chicken tenders, bread 'em and deep fry 'em and right after you take them out of the oil put them on a paper towel for a minute to get some of the oil off and throw them in a bowl of buffalo sauce. After you take 'em out of the sauce they are kind of crunchy, kind of chewy and taste just like hot wings :)
-
Ragged, we do them like you said too. Crunchy and dip them like hot wings. Way to go H20!!! Serious good food.

I fillet the breasts, season to taste, add a little olive oil, and then grill to medium rare. :EAT:
