So whats the general concensus on the best carbon arrow?
-
Is money important to you?
If not get some ACC's or AC super slims
If it is get some Gold Tips
-
well yes it is but I understand you get what you pay for and that is most evident when it comes to archery hunting equipment JB
-
I shot ACC's for years but I really hate to spend the $130.00 a dozen. Last year I tried the Easton Axis and I honestly could not tell any difference in my groups from the ACC's. They are incredibly tough, actually they take more abuse than the ACC's. I shot a nice bull this September and had a pass through at 35 yds, I also shot a nice Blacktail and Coyote, I don't think I'll be spending the extra for the ACC's anymore. The Axis is only rated at .005" straightness, but you will find they run truer than that, almost as true as the ACC's.
I also like the little bit of extra weight with the Axis, light arrows like the Gold Tips make it tough to get the 6 grains per pound needed in our state without shooting a 125 grain head.

i am shooting the st axis right now and they are holding up good, and a lot of them are ending up in the dirt ;) naaa...it ain't that bad, but they seem like good arrows that i'll stick with.
-
Two years ago I shot Gold Tips. They shot great with my field points but didn't fly worth a crap with broadheads. Switched to Easton Axis, they fly great with both.
-
I shoot Easton Axis also, I don't know if they are the best but they fly great for me with thunderhead 100's!
-
I also shoot easton axis 340's, they shoot great for me and have been real durable so far. I have also heard a lot of good things about Gold Tips, but haven't shot any.
-
easton axis 340's
white wraps
blazer vanes
work well with my thunderhead 125's
-
Ive been shooting Gold Tips for a few years now. I wouldnt see any reason to change. For the money they are a great, tuff arrow.

I have been shooting Goldtip arrows for a good many years now and I have never had a single problem with them! They fly perfectly for me with Brodheads and also field tips.
I purposely shot a Goldtip 7595 with a 100 grain field point directly into an Oak 4X4. the arrow buried 1/4th. of the way to the fletching. It took 3 of us to pull the arrow out of the Oak 4X4. There was Zero damage to the point end of the arrow, zero damage to the shaft and zero damage to the nock end. We flexed and examined the arrow for quite a few minutes before we were sure the arrow was safe to shoot again.
I went right back to shooting that arrow and it flew perfectly. :) I finally lost that trophy to a Robinhood. :( :) Otherwise I would still be shooting it! :)
For my money there is no better arrow than a Goldtip! :) All of my arrows weigh in at 1/10th of a grain of each other. :)

GOLD TIP ARROWS ARE HORIBLE NOT STRAIGHT AND I THINK SOME BODY NEEDS A NEW SCALE BECAUSE YOU CANT GET A DOZEN TO MATCH , BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK FOR HUNTING IS THE AXIS SHAFT , AND IF THATS OUT OF YOUR BUDGET TRY CARBON IMPACT , GREAT SHAFT, BUT THE BEST IS EASTON ACC ,
-
Last year I went with Gold Tips and Blazer vanes. My groups shank dramatically, with field points and broadheads.
-
I've heard from several sources that the quality of Gold Tips has gone down since they started making them out of country. Evidently it appears to be a QC issue.... inconsistencies in weight and higher failure rate.
I was always under the impression that these were bulletproof.
Anyone else heard of this happening over the last couple years?
-
I use the Beman ICS 340, seems to work out just fine for me.
-
I was under the impression that 95% of carbon arrows are made outside of the US. I know a buch are made in mexico. ACC's are made in salt lake city but some of the other Easton lines are from mexico. I think Korea makes some of them too.
-
Gold Tips are bullet proof in my opinion. To each his own Ford V. Chevy V. Toyota. There is some junk but any of the name brands are good.
-
YES THE GOLD TIP QUALITY IS REAL IN CONSISTANT , BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE SHOOT THEM BECAUSE THERE CHEAP , BUY BETTER QUALITY SHAFTS AND GET BETTER ARROW AND BROADHEAD FLIGHT TUNEING IS MUCH EASIER , AND THE ANIMALS DESERVE A CLEAN KILL .
-
does anyone shoot maxima hunters? i love mine
-
I have been shooting easton a/c superlsim 400s for 3 years now! can't say enough about them! great shaft, except easton wasn't thinking this year when they discontinued them! So, now I am on the hunt to buy 3 or 4 dozen of them so I can use them over the next few years!
-
I shoot Easton Axis arrows with HIT (hidden insert technology) ... they are the only carbon's I have shot so I don't have much to compare them to but I have been happy with them so far. Tuning wasn't a problem with thunderhead 100's and shot almost the same as my field points.

I saw that oo, but figured I would cut him a break today.......... :chuckle:

I have tried alot of different arrow-broadhead combo s and I think GTIPS are pretty much crap!!! I havnt tried any of the slim style because of cost but I sure like the beman camo hunters 340 with 100 grain slick tricks.Cant go wrong
-
I have no experience whatsoever, but so far I am happy with my Beeman ICS Hunter 340s. Not sure about Broadheads yet, but leaning towards the Slick Tricks since everyone raves about them flying like field tips.
Will they be any good for Turkey?? The Guillotine is ridiculously priced!! :o

Eastons are good i shoot them

Just picked up 6 Blackhawk Vapor Pro 400 in RTHD at Sportsmans for about $26. The seem to fly better for me than my ICS Hunter 340s do. They are 10.1 gpi I believe compared to 9.3gpi on the ICS. Not sure if length has much to do with it. My Beemans are cut to 27" and I had the Vapors cut to 28, so that also adds a bit. Can't beat them for the price so far........

Your ICS Hunter 340 might have not been spined correctly for the poundage of bow you were shooting. Length of the arrow will also effect the spine of your arrow too.

Wow, I guess I am rather shocked that so many think Goldtips suck. I've been shooting them since they were the very first carbon arrow that was made for internal components. I started shooting them before they were even available in this state, and initially I found them to be occasionally inconsistent. But the archery shop I ordered them from in Montana always took the crooked ones back and sent me freshies. I've used single arrows to kill multiple animals in a single fall, and then shot them some more the next year for 3d tourney's. I've never had one fail to kill an animal for me, and have shot enough robin hoods with them to know they fly straight. I'll keep shooting my 5575's.

As well you should. Equipment is about 70% personal likes/opinion and only 30% actual fact as far as I am concerned. When your equipment performs and serves your purpose then you should stick by it.

I was shooting CX maxima hunters but i am now shooting GT prohunters. The tuning hasn't changed and speed is the same. but those darn CX maimas cost almost $140 a dozen before i put the blazers on them. Now after two robinhoods my wife will not let me buy another dozen so i switched. So far i am very pleased with the GT prohunters.

Easton Nano... Super straight, small diameter= less wind drift, deeper penetrating..They aren't cheep, But How much Is your success worth...Consistently shooting quarter size groups at 40 yards... :twocents:
