Title: New bow for next season
Post by: ThunderChicken66 on November 10, 2009, 09:57:07 PM
I've been shooting a Browning Maxim for 12 years.  I like the bow and it has done me well, but I'm thinking of handing it down and buying a new bow for next season.  Since I haven't been in the market for awhile, I'd like your input.

Thanks,

TC66

What kind of input are you looking for? Best thing to do IMO is head to a pro shop and shoot as many different bows that you can get your hands on and find the right one for YOU.

bowhuntin,

should have been more specific.  I've bought all my bows for the last 30 years by first doing exactly what you said.  I started out with PSEs, then Hoyt's and now both my son and I have Brownings.  I'm lookin' for what folks are shooting and what they like or dislike.  I will shoot alot of bows before I decide.  Thanks for the reply.

Lots of good bows out there on the market. I haven't personally shot any of this years models, so I can't help you with likes or dislikes. I am sure there are others that have though and will chime in with their thoughts.

These threads might be worth checking out if you want to see others opinions on the latest bows... still nothing like going to the pro shop and shooting them yourself though.

I shoot the Mathews Monster and I love it.  Some say it's too aggressive and has too much vibration, but that's all in the eyes of the bowholder.  ;)

the interchangable riser grip on the hoyt makes for a great comfortable fit

I shot mathews for years, they make a good product. But for me hoyt makes a GREAT product! But part of that is hoyt makes manufactures their flagship bows with a longer ata option. Personal preference thing for  me.

Take a look at the 2010 Bear Attack it has 340 IBO and a single cam, it sounds sweet to me. It is also less money then a mathews Rezen with similar cartier. Take a look.

i shot 4 new bows a week ago. shot both of the monsters, a reezen 6.5 and pse dream season. the mathews shot good just didnt like the brace height that pse was sweet, smooth draw, no vibration, comfortable in my hand, and fast fast fast. it will be my new bow for next year.

I went to Clarks in colville, test shot a couple bows, settled on the the Martin Firecat. The bow is a beast, love the hell outta it. With the right tips no matter the distance i can get great groups, and the speed is crazy! I was using a blunt the other day on some small game and it went all the way through! Its just a great bow.
