The weather didn’t cooperate much and we had high winds with rain on most days. We did manage to find birds and I even managed to shoot a few. We found both wild birds and some plants. Bob outshot me two to one or better.

One morning we saw a coyote on a bluff so we drove around to an upper road and set up. Within a couple minutes of firing up the Scorpion I had one at 260 yards and I managed to miss.
We watched it run clear across the county before setting up over the next canyon. I started with a little rabbit distress then went into a coyote locator and we immediately had three or four yotes answer from the next canyon over. We sat for ten minutes without any action so we decided to go after the pack. Without knowing the area, we accidentally walked right into two coyotes. They busted us from a few hundred yards. As they took off we got down and I started blowing my call. A third coyote came over the ridge and right down to where the others had been. Bob missed this one at about 350 yards only to kill it at 300.

Then as we were walking through a cattle filled field Bob looks down at a fresh mole/gopher mound and finds this. Lucky SOB. Ha ha.

This one we spotted on a ridge and planned a stalk. As the coyote went out of view, I went around a small hill and over the side of a small ridge. I found a couple of does staring in the direction of the yote and I immediately set up. Within a few seconds of calling it popped up at about 60 yards…boom. Oops. I missed. The dog took off and I quickly started calling. She stopped at about 80 yards and bang flop!

The dog was pretty worn out after 5 days of bird hunting. That gun is an Ithaca model 37, and it's somewhere around 50 years old.

way to go guys...i didn't think you'd have any problem getting into the songdogs over there. neat country too. i wish we had happened onto those muley bucks when we were there.
Yea, we saw a few. Probably would have seen more if we tried. Would have killed more if I could shoot straight. lol
We never did see any big muleys, but we saw a couple really nice whitetail bucks.
