Hi all,
First off this was not my doing..lol
I got a 22 rifle awhile ago from a guy I know. I tossed it in the safe and kinda forgot about it. Well got to digging around and pulled it out and it looks bad to me. I'm kinda wondering if it's even fixable and if so is it even worth the effort :dunno:?? Like all my other guns this one has no sentimental value to me.
What do you think

i would go spend 180.00 and get a new ruger 10/22 and throw that at a pawn shop :chuckle:
-
I would clean it up, i like projects.
If ya want to get rid of it let me know..

great truck gun, action needs serious oil, gun is pitted with rust but its a cool older gun. give it to a kid.
-
well it's mhadix's now. It was nice meeting you Mark good luck with your new project.

Any gun that functions is worth some time and TLC. Many that don't function are still worth time and TLC, (and some parts).

i will be fixing it up within the next few weeks and posting some pics of it.
i took it apart and it had what looked like clay and some sort of powder in it. took a few hours to get all of it out.
put a few rounds through it and it functions flawlessly, not very accurate but it it missing the rear sight elevator. easy fix.
i have another project i'm in the middle of right now, then i will start on this one.

almost done with this. waiting for one thing to arrive, then it should be about 1-2 weeks after that.
-
Right on. Hate to see a gun go to waste. ;)

Can't wait to see what you have done with it. I have the same rifle I received when I turned 16years old ( :o crap...that's 30 years ago...). Mine still shoots great and is one of our favorite plinkers...I put a scope on it...lots of fun...

finally finished.

:yike: WoW :yike: that looks great! Very nicely done

Please refer to my previous post.
And allow me to add.. TLC from a person with undeniable tallent.
A job well done!

baked on flat black ceramic coating
-
How durable is that coating ?? Just wondering if it is resistant to scratches, I have a couple I wouldn't mind doing that too before I sell em !!!
-
cera kote and dura coat are both quite durable, given proper cure time.
-
very scratch resistant given cure time. the package says it's better than original finish on most firearms. i chose flat black to reduce glare.
-
Nice rescue!
-
Wow! It looks new! Very impressive.

That looks awesome nice work. I just did a old remington 7400 my grandma had with duracoat matt black and it looks about the same. I really like it I just hope it holds up on the gun. Time will tell..
