ha thank you! it kind of shocked us that we did so well. It was cold, in the upper 20's to low 30's, but it was sunny most the day, some fog off the water, and there was a little breeze. but I mean the birds were flying and they decoyed really well which was really nice!

We hunt right in the same area quite a bit.  Have not hunted that blind for the last couple of years.  We have not been this year yet but are getting geared up.  Talked to some buddies from the Coulee Dam area that were hunting there Sat. the 14th just upriver from there and did not do well at all.  Said birds were not flying too good.
What day did you go on this hunt??

thanks,

Gadwall.

Northerns will actually tend to have less fat due to migrating.  Local birds have lots of fat on them from sitting still all year.

Good to see you got into them.  I might hit our spot next weekend.  Been out in the basin and its freezing and slowing down.  Shot 1 fat mallard saturday and my dad got 3 teal.

I love those butterballs.  I'll shoot a whole limit of them :chuckle:

If I'm in town over the break its awn!  Might be heading to the coast but we'll see.

Good luck out at the potholes.  Probably around 15 trucks with boats there on saturday around 10am :o  Definitely enough people to keep the birds moving around good.  Lots of teal still in the area!

Good mix of puddlers and divers.  Always nice if you can shoot a limit on a sunny day.

hey if you are going back in the dunes you might try taking a fishing pole out there  rigged with a bobber and throw a maggot on it...a couple of my buddies did that and caught a bucket load of panfish during the slow part of the day...good luck, the pot holes are fun
