Hey I hope you guys have some good shoots this weekend. I had an archery goose hunt lined up and a neck collared honker all line up. But as is life its not going to work out this weekend :( so let me know whats going on!
-
Possibly deer hunt in the morning. Then duck/goose hunt on Sat. & Sun. Then start my week over again and duck/ goose hunt M-Th, then again Sat. & Sun.
Instead of hitting the gym during duck season, I walk in waders for an hour or less every morning bagging birds. It only costs me shells and a set of waders per season. The good life.

Next week is Black Friday, so the wife is making me take her shopping. I will try to get a hunt in the afternoon, but it may not work. I still get 50 + hours of work in a week. I just am hunting before work. I need to pay for my waterfowl habit somehow.

school work so I dont have to do any over thanksgiving... bummer that i dont get to go out at all... gotta wait for all of thanksgiving weekend for potholes!

Chasing geese on saturday and still trying to find a bird with a band. :o
-
I went over to a customers location today and they have a pond and there was a drake mallard standing there with a band on each leg. I wish I would have had some alka seltzers.
-
ouch....14 yrs no bands....its been a rough one. hoping to change that this year. i think my location is all wrong. or my luck.
-
running a 5k on Saturday and goose hunting sunday... NOT ARCHERY HUNTING THE RUT LIKE I HAVE DONE FOR THE LAST 11 years! THANKS AGAIN WDFW.
-
same boat as you chester.... i need a band!!!!!
-
I'm still a bit perplexed on why a band is a big deal? They don't taste good.
-
Would like to try some goose/duck hunting but never really been and don't quite know where to start. Can get on some land in Moses, but like I said need a place to start. I can go chasing dogs too I guess.

i dunno why, but ive killed mallards, widgeon, green wing teal, blue wing teal, pintail, redheads, cacklers, honkers, taverners, aluetions, and specks. i guess its just another thing id like to add to the list. :dunno:

Try to decoys your birds close and pick them out. When the legs drop look for shine, it you see and glimps of shine or a reflective surface, dirt them.

I would be telling a lie to even try and guess how many ducks i have killed. I have only shot one banded duck! I have gave plenty of shots away I.E " you shoot that drake" and guess what it's banded few years ago i gave a guy a shot. The duck was coming from my side and he didn't even see it. I told him "hey shoot this drake" guess what! double banded $100 reward duck FML!!! i was pissed. I should have about 6 or so by now if i would have shot all the ducks I have given away. At this point in my life i pretty much have decided that I'm cursed and don't really get down on the fact that i never kill bands.

I hunted snows today with Bryce and Royce from north sound waterfowl and did pretty good. Our group brought home 14 snows, one nice mature, and three gwt's. We were shy of our limit, but if we could shoot better things might be different lol. I'll post pics tomorrow, I'm out with my wife posting from my phone right now...
good luck tomorrow!!
-
Did you guys hunt the North Sound Waterfowl land that is just North of Samish? If so i think I saw you guys out there. Kind of a small place.
-
you could probably see us from fir island road, to the north. Sound right? Very close, maybe 1 mile, from wylie?
-
I'm gonna hit the snows tommorow morning then off to Deadfowls territory to hunt with some teachers from wa-hi. Never hunted in Walla Walla before so it will be a nice change of pace!

how many decoys do you have? My brother and I are thinking about spending some money and investing together, and my father in law mentioned he might be willing to drop a couple hundred $$ on some snow deeks too.

i took the top end out of my truck :/ the cam shaft has been worn down and the bearings on the cylinder head are worn down and there is metal shavings from the cam and cylinder. so we pulled it all out and found out that the pistons have also been impacting the head and have dented the pistons and the head :/ looks like its gonna be a little $$$ to fix

that sucks. sounds like the type of project i'd prefer to do Feb-Sept :bash:

yup, just bought the damn thing too, its an 89 dodge ram 50, dinky little thing, got it for the gas mileage and the extreme need for a vehicle, it was only 900$ so you figure in about half that in repair in the first couple years, so far bills up to about $250, calling the machine shop today so i dont know the cost of the new head or machining of the head yet, but all in all its a fun project, easy to work on truck, especially for a mechanic noob like me

Got Wed thru Sun off so figure I'll chase ducks and geese tomorrow morning then pickup and go back home switch gears and get the Hawkins out and chase deer/elk in the afternoon :hunter: depending on what happens and my mood I'll be hunting something every day but turkey day told the wife I spend the day at home with her ( makes getting to go more a lot easier iffin shes happy ;)) probably mostly be deer/elk sure would like to fill one of the tags  but if it fly it dies and if it's brown it's down :IBCOOL:
