Well it's not a monster but its meat in the freezer. Second time I have hunted for Blacktail. I usually hunt NE. After an unsuccessful General Season it's nice not to have tag soup :)

thats the biggest bt spike I remember seeing..saweeet! meat in the cold basket
-
Great BT! I love the curvature of his......... ummm oh yea horns!
-
This is by FAR the longest spike blacktail I've seen. Nice job. If P&Y had a category for spikes, he'd be way up there in the books!
-
Love the curvature too....I guess that might be considered a trophy spike... :chuckle:
-
Backyard buck.. ;)
-
awsom buck, congrats. That BT has the biggest spikes i've ever seen on one. and even though hes a spike his rack still has some cool character
-
let them grow man.

Nice first post! :bash:
Congrats on your buck. It dont matter how big or small, a first is a TROPHY. Plain and simple!
-
its a liitle early in your posting career here doelkillrssuck to be poping off like that. :bash: its meat in the freezer and thats all that counts. and besides who says that that A) his family needs the meat B) thats not a managment buck C) As stated its his first deer and not all of us kill ripper deer on or first time out.
Just try and be a little bit respectful
-
Nice BLKY!! Sorry about the Disrespect.....from the other doe, uh! i ment guy!
-
Congrats on a dandy first, sorry some people have to try and spoil a happy event. Mark

Trophy quality is in the eye of the tag-holder. Please keep your comments respectful. They took a legal deer in a legal method. That should be good enough for us as sportsman to support. The in-fighting amongst ourselves is going to be the death of our sport. Take the morale High-Road, to quote Keith Warren.

I enjoy eating venision, for taste a spike or doe is the way to go. Good job.
-
looks to me like a 2 year old deer, i doubt any older but i think id have a better chance getting a 4point than ever shooting a spike that big. id be proud, its alota bigger than the spike i shot this year
-
Backyard buck.. ;)
I wish. got em SW of Olympia
-
I keep coming back and looking at that spike, and it is so cool! You should really consider a Euro mount, as a DIY thing. It would look great up on the mantle.
-
One hell of a spike there! Bigger than some forked horns, great first BT!

Well my buddy and I think this deer is an older deer and has reverted back to a spike. I think that can happen but I'm not an expert. Maybe someone here knows? He is very grey, his hooves are thrashed and curled up alot and his teeth are also very worn. But who knows??? He was 108lbs dressed out at the butcher.
-
Definitely a mature blacktail,(a trophy spike indeed), you should be very proud. He could be a regress, but chances are he was a spike his whole life. A good one to cull out of the gene pool.
He would make a great euro-mount.
