I went and looked a rifles again today and the Browning's just seem to keep me coming back to them. I think i will get one in 300 win mag that should be plenty big for anything in north America. I have a sako 7mm-08 that I love but I keep telling myself that I need something bigger. I know I dont but I will put it on my Xmas list anyway.

Brownings are good guns but if you have a sako don't compare them you will be disappointed in the browning, I have tikka's and brownings and like the tikka's better brownings are considerably more money. Buy a tikka then buy a limbsaver recoil pad and save your money for other needs.

the brownings are good, i have shot a few but would never give my sako up if i were you look at the tikka's or the new sakos i love the new finnlight it is great and the new 85 is a great also the 7mm-08 will kill anything that walks around here with a well placed bullet

i have a 300 win mag in a browning and a 325wsn. i love them both i would throw the rest of my guns over a hill. the thing always shoot and r always on. i sight them in once a year and dont worry about it ever. the 325 shoots five shoot under3/4 group at 200 yards. buy a browning youll love the thing.i have weatherby, cooper,hs,ruger,kimber,remington,sako and i still take browning because u can beat the piss out of it and it still on.

-Get a Browning and you will be happy for life, get anything else and you will be happy for alittle while but you will start to wish you got the Browning! Cant beat the Buckmark!

My wife got me my first Browning for Christmas last year, an x-bolt. I love it!

buy an older browning and cant go wrong,dont a japan model,look for finland. i dont like the clip on the tikka,so avoid that model.sako makes great stuff i bought a forrester for the wife a few years ago and like it. i have christensen arms in weatherby accumark 7mm weatherby and it will out shoot any rifle i know of.

Been hunting with a Browning A-Bolt with BOSS in 300 WSM for the past eight years.... Love the gun, love the caliber!

1 - Browning 300 Win Mag- that damn thing was the hardest kicking rifle I have ever shot, and I hunt primarily with a 338.

I love my Browning BAR Safari in .300 win mag! I don't like the BOSS though, too bloody loud.

I have to agree 100% with you on the noise factor. I shot ONE deer with the BOSS muzzle brake on. After my ear stopped ringing two days later, I swore I would never use it again. However, the BOSS also comes with a solid (no brake) end that works great! I have used it ever since that first deer I shot with that rifle. The 300 WSM does not have too bad of a kick (in my opinion), so the brake isn't really needed.

i did not like the BOSS as well. was way to loud even on the little 243 i had it on. traded that browning for a 7mm WSM and i think that guns great. i think youll be happy with any browning rifle, just stay away from the BOSS stuff. just my :twocents:

-I have the Stainless Stalker in 270win and 300wsm! Love them both but the 300short is not your everyday shooter, after a few 3shot groups my shoulder is toast! Man it kicks, but just a complete meat hammer on Muleys and Elk, never a second shot needed, Awesome Caliber! Brownings are tough to beat!

I had BLR in 300 and it kicked pretty f****in hard. I now shoot a browning A-bolt in 325 wsm and it feels like my girlfriend hit me instead of a mule. LOL.

I took the BOSS off of my .300 and machined myself one without holes. I liked it a lot better until I lost it while doing a tear down on my gun. Recoil doesn't bother me at all but the noise sure did. I shot a buck with it the year I bought the gun and my hearing didn't come back for 4 days.

I have a browning a-bolt in stainless stalker, 325wsm, shoots great and carries even better. Sims recoil pad takes the sting outta it. My cousin hot loads his 338win with 250gr a-frames I believe, also a browning stainless stalker. Shooting his in Ak was what convinced me to buy the Browning. Sako's are also good, but considerably more money. I have remmy 700's, a couple of Rugers 77's and the Browning. I don't have a gun I dislike. But I would be hard pressed to say you'd ever be disappointed you bought the Browning.

when asked by visiting relatives this past turkey day about my favorite choice for elk rifles, I showed them 3; a Weatherby Lazermark 340 mag-brandishing a new Leupold 4.5-14x scope mounted & sighted in 2007, a Browning A-bolt (old style blued) in 300winmag-Leupold 3.5-10x and an pre-64 Win Mdl 70 in 30-06, Leupold 2-7x..
the Weatherby (gift rifle from a past woman in my life) has never been in the field during elk season thus is off the gun rack purty but my old Browning(15 years so far) is the workhorse. And the A-bolt kicks like a work horse too ;).
The model 70, a rifle handed down during my youth, has earned its place of retirement in the gun vault.
I notice the recoil of the 300win mag more than the 340 Weatherby. But the recoil doesn't bother me enough to affect my shooting accuracy. I'd have it ported/muzzle braked but dang, it shoots dime tight groups at 100 yds and I don't want to mess with it. Plus it easily reaches out to my self imposed limit of 450yds...if unable to stalk closer to my preferred max range of 350-400yds.
love my old Browning but don't care much for the look of the stainless models. Friend has stainless model and likes it very much.
