-
dang! thats a ton of pins!!! were there 4 of you in your group? where you hunting at?
-
i hear ya buddy, we did ok yesterday. we ended up 2 shy of our limit but with the warm weather what can you do.
-
yeah we had 4 with us......I hate shooting pintails but what can you do when thats all that will come in....and spur-ride its about to get good for sure keep in touch with me this week so we can try and figure something out.
-
hey did you only shoot pins and mallards because I swear I counted 9 pins..... hopefully one of the pins on the bottom row at the ends that I am counting are actually not pins...
-
No the one with a green head is a mallard!

I do know that... I have known my ducks since I was 5... but one of the ducks on the BOTTOM looks like it is another pintail and if every duck on the bottom is a pintail then there is 9
-
unless the one on the very bottom right is a hen mallard now that i look at the pic more.. I just dont want you guys to get busted if you shot more pins than you are supposed to.... that would be a major bummer.....
-
It's late, er early, but i believe i see two hen mallards in the bottom row. Look at the coloring and the color of their bills. One on the far right looks like its neck was rung, long but likely a hen mallard.
-
3 head from the left looks like a hen mallard to me :dunno:
And yes I know what you are talking about though Jordano....I made that mistake once, it was a complete accident, but I didn't ditch the bird, turned myself in to a Fed and took the ticket :bash:
Forgot to mention....good job Riley!! Where you hunting at?

I only see 8 there. Look at the feather pattern. They upped the limit to ( 2 ) this season. So, with 4 guys they are good to go.

Yep. The only bird in question is the one on the farrr right and its color pattern is darker than the rest of the pins. Mallard hen.
-
ok thank you everyone. I know my regs and I know my ducks its just that one brown duck on the far right bottom looks like a hen pin just because of the slender neck and head. but it was probably just pushed down feathers and a hen mallard.... thank you for the clarification.
-
The bill color is off for a mallet though...its blue with a black tip. Looks like a diver...
-
That's still a nice haul RileyTDF. Northerns should be comin' soon...
-
Hey guys the duck on the far right in a hen mallard her neck was broke and its long...we had 4 shooters 8 pins and the rest are mallards....
-
heres the deal. its his ducks not yours. it is what it is.i wonder if there is a person who has ever shot at one duck and hit two?? now ur one over limit.oh no! leave the bird??? never. i will fight to the end with the game wardens on stuff like that.one too many quail, that darn duck that swooped in front of the duck u were aiming at,and the fishermen should oh know that a dolly vardon was going to hit the rapala 200' out and swallow it! the day i let a wounded fish float away or leave a bird to rot because of a accident.we are all hunters on here, lets not nit pick everything. good shoot buddy.
-
and one more thing that duck on the far right is a hen mallard. bottem line! they do make great little books with color pictures of all the ducks for the people who cannot identify a hen mallard :dunno:
-
Lot's of amateur game wardens on this site... :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
man a couple of you guys are really considerate.... thank you riley.... I do see that its a hen mallard now. its tooo bad that being concerned.... and I do realize those types of things happen......... thanks guys for being so thoughtful.......
-
who has ever shot at one duck and hit two??
Been there done that! Got the ticket to prove it. These things happen. I was on this hunt as well and the right duck is a mallard I broke her neck it's stretched out. We are really carfull about pintails. I already know what happens if you mess up and get one over limit. :bash:

The DU migration map says that the ducks are increasing in the Mt. Vernon area of western Washington. In Moses lake the map says the Migration is starting. If the temp would drop the numbers would increase. However, we are in an El Nino year so it may be warmer at sea level than normal. http://www.ducks.org/migrationmap/?poe=GPPCad
