I have always used open utility trailers for hauling hunting camp into the mountains. Currently have a 5 x 10 with 24" sides and a ramp tailgate. I am thinking about getting an enclosed cargo trailer, maybe something along the lines of a 6 x 10 to be able to haul gear and have it stay dry when it is raining/snowing, and to be able to lock up the gear when I am not around. I would like to hear from anyone that uses one currently. Pros and cons. Maybe some pictures if you have a custom interior set up.

I use the same trailer Dew. When you are 50+ miles from the nearest pavement its difficult to keep everything from turning orange from the Montana dirt. I don't think a enclosed trailer will help much though, even the inside of my rigs get dusty, that stuff gets in around the door and window seals.

I have thought about the same thing myself. We actually did some looking and found that the best trailer we could find was the MULE. Good quality trailers. on the west side of I-5 right off exit 88 is a place that sells several different brands and they have some really good prices.
We actually want a big goose neck trailer about 32' to build a camp right inside of. Poor mans toy hauler. Sinks and running water with propane or wood heat and fold up bunks. It's going to be a few years! LOL

I bought a 8x16 Mirage trailer several years back. I was looking to purchase a 7x14 but my wife asked if there would ever be a time when it would be to small. I told her if I were to buy quads that it probally would be, so she convinced me to go bigger. I bought a couple of quads and the trailer size was perfect for my needs. Now I no longer have the quads so the trailer is a little overkill, but I've always been one of those bigger is better kinda guys anyways.

Mnt Dew....I have used a cargo trailer for two years now. I built in a cooking counter and shelves in the first 14" of the trailer. I can still almost fully load the trailer with anything I need to haul, and have not destroyed the utility of the trailer with this built in...
I have a single burner propane stove hanging in the counter, a removeable/portable propane oven on the mid-shelf. Absolutely indespensible when it is pouring buckets outside.... Not pretty work. Didn't want pretty work...maybe later if I decide to keep the layout... I have toyed with the idea of making some type of bunk bed thingy for the kids and myself, something removeable...but the 6'wide is probably too narrow for this... For now, we all sleep in the tents...
This year in the deep snow, it condensated really bad inside. I slept the first year on a cot, but did not like how it ate up floor space. Instead this year, I slid a 2' wide sheet of plywood over the coolers and cargo boxes, placed a 2"foamy over the wood and slept like a baby... (cried all night...just kidding...)
I still haul my tents if my kids are coming or if I need a place to get out of the wind with friends in the evening..., but if solo hunting, this cargo trailer is a perfect fit for me....

Thanks for the reply, Iceman. How big is your trailer? I am mostly thinking about keeping gear dry and being able to lock up my stuff.... but I suppose it would work as a "quick camp" for solo hunting.

I should have went 6x10...but thought it may give me problems getting it back into a few areas I hunt...
