Just curious if you guys have any pictures (preferably live) of any 500-600 lb black bears? My gf's dad has pics of a MONSTER 500-600 lb class color phase blackie from the GPW this september... Just like to see any comparisons if you got 'em! ;)

Michael is that yer mum pickin berries? :yike:

Could be. You'll never know until he's down. Good luck. Fine looking bear.
-
Thats a great bear, but 550 is a lot of weight! Its hard to tell how long that bear is, but he sure has a mellon on him! A trophy for sure but 550??? Cool pics by the way!!!
-
Bio's at the WDFW said it was a 600 lb class blackie but like you said you don't know until you get him down. And on top of that he's in an area where it's impossible to get a bear out whole. Bone out what you could and haul hide/head out as well... That's the reason he didn't hit the dirt, the pics were taken on the high hunt and he was solo with no way to not waste any meat... Hopefully he'll get him next year as he saw him 3 weeks prior to this in the same area...

PS: Moss, ur a no talent ass clown, why don't you go put that giant vibrator between ur legs or something! (I hear you also call it your 'motorcycle') haha

I'd like to see the wdfw bio that could recognize a 500lb plus blacky. Good luck with this....:hunt2:

there is a blackie out in longbranch that has been reported as a 500+ lb bear. there is an old couple that feeds several in the backyard of their home. i guess the big one is one of the bears they feed. longbranch is at the end of the peninsula next to gig harbor. i will give directions if you want to pm me. i can put you right on the main trail the bears use every day.

I'd knock a hundred pounds off of him, but thats about as close to 500 as you are going to get in this state. I'd put him at about 450-475 from what I see there. That is one hell of a trophy though. Seriously.
-
it'd take him 2 trips just to haul ass!
-
Thanks guys, yeah it'd be real interesting to see what he actually weights! There's a gameplan to hopefully get back in there next fall and cover the area real well looking for him and while scouting for the high hunt... I'll just be along for the ride as I ain't buying an out of state WA bear tag and can't afford any taxidermy work but it'd be something to get him on the ground! By far the biggest colorphase I've ever seen!

Def a trophy Michael. One of the top bears "I've seen" lately.
-
thats a great lookin bear wow that big and a phase :yike:

It would definitely be a bear worth trying for. I certainly would. I've never been attracted to black or brown bear colors specifically. To me - they're just bears, and all fine bears. However I do understand that many people like those light colored ones quite a bit. I hope they have a big wall to put that sucker on if they bag him. Including either a small team of healthy people and or a horse.

Now a bear like that would get me interested again in bear....

I have on camera a 7ft cinnamon. He was filmed in late July so he wasn't filled out all the way but I would guess he would be around 500lbs. Someday when I figure out how, I will post some pics of him.
When we first saw him, we though he was a grizz :yike:. He had everything but the wide head. He had a big hump on his back. I will find him again someday :bfg: He was closer to home than you think he would be but at about 5200ft ;)

If you want email the pics to me and I'll post them on the site! Sounds like a bruiser! ;)

I should have said he is on video camera. I could always post it on youtube. I just don't know how to post a still shot from the video.
-
That would be awesome!!!

Yes. Please post vid on YouTube. With GPS coordinates of his last known location. My son really wants to shoot a Bear. :chuckle:

If I told anyone where he is, I would loose a good friend who took me there. It's not easy to get to. It's a 4000 foot climb with no trail. it took me 7 hours to get there. I was dead for the next week after I got back.

I'd be in the same boat if I told anybody where this particular bear was at... and at that I only have a mildly accurate guess... its been a family hidey hole of theirs for the past 20 years or so. So we can do without the location but the video would still be awesome to see!!! ;)

This is the largest bear we have taken. He was almost 8 feet and from the weight of everything we packed out we figured he weighed close to 550. Taxidermist used a large grizzly form, took off the hump and built up the back end to look like a black bear. The skull placed #7 in SCI under handgun.
The next largest bear we have taken weighed 458. Over the years we have taken several hundred bear and only this one has exceeded 500 pounds.

Dang I thought Mine were BIGGEST! :bash: Dang... :chuckle:

I have a bear rug on my wall that I shot in '05 in the blues that scouts 6'9" and it was only 375lbs-ish... 19" skull.
