I am wanting to get serious about coyote hunting this winter but all the public property that i have been to has the big signs stating that the area will be closed for wintering elk. Are there some public areas open during the winter, be it state or DNR land around ellensburg? :dunno:

It's not closed, it's only closed to motorized vehicles. You can still walk in and hunt coyotes.

SWEET!! I did not know that. So is that for all areas? I am assuming the walk in for the joe watt feeding station is closed.

I think some of the LT Murray Wildlife Area does have roads open for motorized use during the winter. You need to pick up a map from the WDFW office in Ellensburg. Look it up on their website and give them a call. The map will show what roads are open and which ones aren't. I believe you can walk in and hunt anywhere you want. But talk to the Wildlife Area manager to be sure.
