I know it would be bad but I kind of wish we had hogs here. Anyone else secretly wish we had them here?
-
That is just crazy.. That would be kind of fun.
-
Fun and I could feed everyone I know for a year. :chuckle: :chuckle:

I don't particularly like the shooter in this case. Many suffering animals that should have had a quick follow up shot to put them out of their misery. He can lead a moving target kinda OK, but can't hold the rifle still to save his arse. And has terrible trigger control. Anyone can herd/flock shoot.
The thermal stuff is kinda cool though.
Do I wish we had Hogs here? Yup!

I thought the guy running the camera is a pretty good shot. :dunno: The guys with him...not so much. Yeah he should have put another round in a couple of them.
-
Heard there are some down in the Wynoochee area.
-
i wish we had them but they are so distructive in farm lands like ours but would be cool. cool video you can see the little one splatter

I used to hunt them regularly while stationed in California and they were a BLAST! I agree, they are pretty damned destructive and sure would cause a lot of problems....but I wish we had that opportunity here in WA.
-
Didn't look like shot placement was very high priority on the shooters list. :dunno: I won't knock it anymore than that but I guess it's just not my thing. The thermal is pretty cool, looked like a video game.
-
the little guys didn't stand a chance, and that camera didn't down play the impact shots :yike:
-
As bad as they would be, they would be fun to hunt, but I am glad they aren't here.
-
Longtat- Did you film this... :chuckle: Longtat, Longtat, Longtat let me play next time......
-
I would rather have hogs than wolves. :twocents:
-
The camera guy could shoot! And yeah, i ain't a farmer, i hunt for the farmers, so i think hogs would be awesome. Cause these guys pay bounties on coyotes just cause coyotes sometimes dig holes in their fields or kill deer in em. So imagine what i'd be getting for hogs! I'd want one of them thermal scopes though. Thats cool stuff.
-
That was freakn' awesome!
I want in on that action!
-
I would do that in a heart beat.
-
that thermal gear is awesome!

I want some. maybe someday when I'm rich.

Just think of the possibilities . Hog and yote fun after dark.
-
but then the WDFW would make it illegal to hunt them with dogs.... if you haven't taken a hog behind dogs... you need to.

I seen dem hogs on the South Peninsula. Lots of em. They are wild. They are feral. They are big..........
And they usually have the middle name of Lynn. They are blond, with dark roots. Have a strings of three or four piglets, sired by three of four boars.
They are easily baited............just show up in Aberdeen, flash a case of Bud Light, some Marb Lights, and tell her to git in the truck. If on a budget, Keystone Ice will be sufficient.
Mention that you have health insurance..............and it is ON. You will end up at some blue gate near Wishkah, with a couple to a few hundred pounds of porker, hot after it.
Good luck to all that want to hunt the legendary animal of the Peninsula. Night Vision not recommended.

I don't think they really care. It's more about just controlling numbers in this situation I think. Knock as many down as possible and finish of the wounded ones as soon as the shootings over. All I can say is "Where do I sign up!?!?" The only thing better would be if this was Taliban.
-
Sign me up! That was bad ass! Anyone know what one of those scopes cost?

"Anyone else secretly wish we had them here?"
Yeah. I like wild pig. I've never been a big fan of venison.
Tomy salami, you get the golden ticket. :chuckle:
-
What size of pea shooters do you reckon they had? Sounded like semi-auto to me.
Made a rather nice explotion on impact too.

TWO Words....what time?

DPMS Panther Arms .308 semi-automatic rifle
-
That is a lot of firepower for a pig that size. Still looks fun though.
-
just read in capital Press hogs confirmed in southern Idaho, been in Oregon for a couple of years. I hope we do not get them. :twocents:
looks like fun shooting though :IBCOOL:
-
Wish they were here?
Not really. They cause too much damage. On the other hand, if there were an infestation of pigs here like there is in The South we'd be hounded by people all year long to come over to this place or that to kill off the pigs.
Got me thinking about heading down to Texas again.
-
They would give the Washington wolves more to eat. :chuckle: That gives me an idea, I saw a show yesterday about the Hog Bomb. There's more hogs then you can kill. Maybe those States would like to take our wolves? :chuckle:

Yeah that is the problem with wild pigs, just to much damage. That is also what is best about them for hunters. Year round hunting opportunity, more private access, more prey for predators, and I think it would strengthen the hunter relationship with non-hunters. I know those are selfish reasons for wanting wild pigs around. :dunno:

That being the case?........I say - BRING THE IN!
and then :mgun: yeeeeeehaaaaaaaawwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's no wonder some people think I'm weird!
-
Are the hogs endangered? Better watch out what you wish for, usfws might decide they need to add them to the ESA, probably having a meeting right now with defenders of bullsh$t. Next thing you know wdfw will be jumping in there to get their share of the $$$. Wonder how everything will work out, hauling wolves and hogs togeather, might be interesting at the release site.
-
id love to hunt pigs here in wa, not sure what the effect would be on the other animals though. ive looked for them around the nooch area and never seen any sign, i think the only place that could have them now is some where in or near the olympics
-
If we do end up with hogs, I hope we don't get the red legged piggies.
-
Hogs can be a real problem....
The video Kain posted reminded me of some hog experiences i had in Australia.
I was hunting water buffalo in Australia miles from any roads camping in the outback with some aussie buddies who knew the aboriginal leader and got us all permission to hunt.
We came upon 22 hogs all dead in a group, since there are no predators the Aussie gov uses helicopters and snipers with machine guns to control animal numbers that get out of hand. Wow, I was thinking that's just the job i want. :chuckle:
After we killed our 4 water buffalo, we went to a ranch (over 100,000 acres) to do some hog shooting. The owner told me that the government flew his place and estimated he has about 10,000 hogs. He said he tries to kill at least 4,000 per year just to try and keep the hog population from growing. From what I could see it wasn't working... :chuckle:
Any way we shot about 20 hogs in a couple hours, it was a blast, I will attach a photo of one of the boars I shot. He offers a "Hundred Hog Shoot", I may have to go back and do that one.... :chuckle:
-
it is currently illegal over here to hunt the boar in this manner. there are beggining to be some exceptions in berlin where they boar problem is attrocias.
