A few years ago, my daughter shot her first deer with a .25-35 that belongs to a friend of mine. I did some research on the cartridge and decided that I need one someday for the same reason we all need a new gun....BECAUSE WE NEED A NEW GUN!!! I would prefer to have a lever gun. Does anyone know if you can have a model 94 or Marlin 336 rebarrelled and worked on to accomodate this and who might do this work?? thanks-

being as the 25-35 is a low pressure round it can be sleeved i think or rebarreled. just finding the right gunsmith. doug turnbull does alot of lever guns and harry mcgowen also. jim petersen at precision cut baarrels might be good also. there is a shop in omak that used to do sleeveing and one in oregon but i haven't seen an add for them in awhile. i'll try and find some links for you.

I've been shooting a Model 64 in 25-35 for over 36 years and can't say enough good about it. Superbly accurate and a light recoiling caliber that does a good job on deer. One of my plans is to rebarrel a Marlin to 25-35 so that I could scope it and wring a little bit tighter groups out of it.
Any good gunsmith worth his salt could rebarrel a Marlin to 25-35.

the model 64 is similar to the 94 but with a short magazine and long barrel correct?

I looked for one for about 5 years and finally found one THANKS to this site. Now I have the 25-35, 32 and hopefully someday soon the ole 30-30 I grew up with. I had aspirations of all three of my girls on the mountain with a lever gun.

How's that working out for you? I've got 3 girls myself, none ready to hunt yet, too young.

like said go to a quality shop with a good gunsmith and they should be able to get it done for you without to much fuss

I konw you said you want a lever-gun & I agree with that choice just wanted to add my :twocents:. My little girl who will be 14 this weekend has a 25-35 in a T/C Contender Carbine and we love it! great choice of caliber. like said, a good smith should be able to accomodate your needs.

contender carbine is what I was thinking when he brought it up. that would be a sweet little deer rifle.

Thanks for all the info guys and let me know if you think of anything else. I'll let you know what I find.

could always look for the odd savage 99 in 25-35. bet it'd shoot nice loaded with spitzers!

i have one 1899 sav in 25-35 win for sale, stock has a repairable crack from a old fall, still shootable , quite accurate.

Its a slow go Mag. They aren't as physically capable as boys are at that age, and I don't want to force them on it. When they show interest, they get rewarded. I think I will have at least two hunters. One would like to but has a lot of negativity from her mother (first wife). We'll see how that turns out. She loves the time and the outdoors, just not into killing things. If I am lucky, one of these days they will have husbands that will die in awe when they see my antlers.

Ha Ha, you will get the 30-30 but I hope it's not real soon. It's in my will ;)

:chuckle: Hopefully they will be shooting it long before you get tired of this world.

I am pretty new to the site so I was just wondering, are you two related? It seems like you go back and forth a lot.
