I need to get some pigeons for training with and cant find anyone who has some to sell so i was thinking about going and getting a trap and getting some for myself but i dont want to go out and do that if it is against the law. Is this ok for me to do or will i get in big trouble for doing it?

i tried and tried and tried to trap some pigeons here.... i ended up ordering quail and having them mailed to me... on a side note i use to trap pigeons for 75 cents a head off of the courthouse and post office when i was in highschool down south... so i kinda new what i was doing... I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure as long as you get consent from the owner of the property you should be cool... maybe someone else will chime in.

We used to take fishing nets with long handels and scoop them from freeway overpasses at night. Don't know if it is legal but it worked really well.

There not pigeons there rock doves non-native wildlife nothing required in the form of license is necessary to trap or shoot them.

ok cool thanks I am not alowed to keep them at my house for any period of time due to home owners assosiation so i can only get as many as i need. There is an over pass by my house that has hundereds of pigeons that roost at is so i was thinking about putting a trap there but the fish net idea is a good one, might try that one.

Hey Bonneylake,
I'm in Tacoma. I'll provide the trap and some bait if you'll share some of your pigeons you catch in it. I've been trying for a year to catch them in Tacoma, with no luck. It's the double-bob style trap found in cabelas and lc supply.
PM me if interested.

I just posted a way to do it on another post. Farmers love to have pigeons removed. Kids from our church had fun one night and caught 50 for us. They used a fishing net and put it over the excape route out of the barn. Leave another door open so they can come in and one you can close quickly and get to easy. Close it and flush the birds to the net. If you are quick and the net is loose enough totrap the birds you should get some. Good luck.

Put your bait down get the pigeons coming to it then put your trap out with 1 live pigeon inside it as a decoy and it will fill up with other's fast.
