Title: Starting to think spring bears 2010?

I'm thinking I'd rather use my limited amount of free time scouting for deer instead. It's been too long since I've killed a blacktail. I've made up my mind that next year I WILL be bringing home a blacktail deer. I can hunt bears in August. But not 100% sure yet...

I hear that! I've only shot 2, one in spring 08 and fall 09. I'm a full fledged addict now. Bears are just overflowing with the "Cool Factor"

Well, it gets you out hunting bears while only a few others are allowed..

and spring bears generally have really nice hides, if you can get them before they start to rub off that winter coat.

Where I hunt you just see so much more activity in the spring. The coat on my 08 Spring bear was great but it was good on my 09 fall bear too. They didn't taste any different to me but the spring bear had absolutely no fat which made cleaning a breeze and not as greasy and slimy. I'd hunt spring bears every year if I had the choice, it's just a great time to be out in the woods. Turkey hunting in the morning and bear hunting in the afternoon and evening. 08 was an awesome season.

Have you checked the harvest stats for that area WOW!, Spring and fall, it seems like there are a lot of bears !

I have some good spots already, more than I get the time to go, and am just curious.

I will be hunting them while I look for a good bear this spring (5 pts :IBCOOL: Should do it).
