Mine either really.  Folks will be kind of leary of you for a bit until they get to know you.  We've had a couple sign up just to get everyone fired up about wolves.  One even stole someones pics and claimed them as their own.   I think its also a tactic of the antis as a whole bunch of folks come on and claim SSS and then they can link to the post and say see how dumb those rednecks are.

Wolves are beautiful creatures! I'm afraid that there are none anywhere in the state though. Too bad. Remember animals are people too!

I could see this happening, but even legitimate members on here claim that and in my opinion the SSS is not necessarily the best response to claim because of that very reason of anti's getting ahold of it and using it for their backing and the fact that those that claim SSS are advocating unlawful behavior i.e. (poaching), all of us, for the most part on here rip into poachers but yet i've seen people claim SSS on here and read posts in regards to poaching topics by the same members about how much they hate them...whether its a wolf that a person may hate or a trophy elk, poaching is poaching to me.  I'm sure I will get bashed for this but on a public hunting forum advocating poaching SSS isn't a way for non hunters to view hunting in a positive light.  But again, alot claim SSS but i wonder how many would actually do it?

I suspect most would do what I would do, let the wolf walk based on fear of getting caught.  I think a lot of us would be happy to find out that another hunter has applied the SSS principal to a wolf but wouldn't do it ourselves.  My guess is that a hunter who willfully kills a wolf unlawfully would tend to be the type who might poach a game animal under the right circumstances. :twocents:

sisu you are probably right, wants to stir the pot.... :stirthepot:

I think most of us are very legitimate hunters who promote legal hunting methods on this site. The wolf issue has many of us worked up due to the lack of proper management that we have witnessed in the Rocky Mtn States. As long as Washington adopts a reasonable management plan I don't think wolf poaching will be a huge problem in Washington. Most hunters are good people who want to do the right thing. :twocents:

I suspect anyone posting on the internet advocating SSS does not really understand the concept.

Post MIGHT be legit, though.  There have probably been wolves there continuously for at least 6 years, and intermittently for longer than that.

I'm not some hippi duech bag, I'm an avid hunter. lot of coyote hunting, I know the differnce between a 30lb coyote and 120lb wolf, I'v also lived here all my life, and they are not the first I'v seen. I really don't care what anyone on here thinks or if they belive me or not. I just found the forum, and thought I might get some peoples input on the wolves situation.  As for the name, I thought it was funny. but it don't matter none, i'll probley stick with a differnt hunting forum anyway, after seeing how uptight people are on here.   didn't mean to piss everyone off. and weather you belive me or not, they are over there right now, and sounds like soon the'll be 30 more. well have fun making other new people fell as welcome on here as I felt.

Thanks for the support guys. I take my boat up this time of year and do some kicking around and start scouting deer for shed antlers in the next few months, and take pictures of the muleys comin down. when I saw them they were moving, all I have is a crappy little didgital camera that i didgiscope with and just simply couldn't set up on them in time.

Hello 420, welcome aboard, There have been quite a few reports of wolves on the Chelan side in the last two years. I talk to some guys last winter that live down around Chelan and they said they have had wolves for awhile now. They said they come up the M. Valley every winter to ice fish, and they had never seen so few deer in the Methow. Thanks for the information.

Well, 420, I apologize for calling you doper hippie, but again we need to be up & up on what we advocate for hunting. That said I'd love to see WA have limited entry wolf hunting.

Welcome to the forum!

I believe that he seen them.  I saw a wolf on South Navarre (I can never spell that).  I never told a soul about it, as it was during the time that Slick Willey was trying to get that entire chunk of the state listed as a Griz recovery zone.  I was afraid it would be more fuel to the fire.  As the crow flies that's not all that far from the methow valley.

What I do find interesting is now that the wdfw has officially said there are wolves in the state, poof there sure seems to be getting more and more not attached to the lookout pack.  I thought they were supposed to be territorial, not sending postcards to there cousins up north saying how nice the territory is down in Washington and move on down.

Welcome to the board 420, you have to understand that wolves in WA is a touchy subject, and it being your first post on this site kinda makes people wonder a bit.  I am fairly new to this board as well, however I spread my posts out in numerous topics and subjects that interest me.  I usually don't know what the hell I am talking about but I still put in my opinions :o

I'm seeing some donkeys coming down with the weather, but some area I watch deer winter in, I'm seeing a lot less. not sure if its the wolves or just lack of snow still, but it makes me wonder if they could already be putting that impact on the herd. I'll post some nice deer pics on the deer forum when I figure it out.

So all you old fogies know what is going on...I hit wikipedia for ya'!

The term originated from a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California, United States in 1971.[1][2] The teens would meet after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the Louis Pasteur statue.

According to an April 2009 article on the The Huffington Post (edit: a piece of crap rag blog site frequented by liberal crapsters) , the group called itself the Waldos because its members hung out by a wall after school. Writer Ryan Grim, citing interviews with anonymous Waldos, claims that the group met by the statue at 4:20 p.m. to begin a search for a crop of unguarded cannabis growing near Point Reyes that they had heard about. They never found the stash, Grim writes, but smoked plenty of marijuana while looking for it.[3]

[edit] April 20 observances
April 20 ("4/20" in U.S. date notation) has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis.[4][5] In some locations this celebration coincides with Earth Week.[6][7][8] At events in the United States, it is common to hear about Abraham Lincoln, one of many American politicians known for past use of cannabis, who wrote that one of his "favorite things" was "smoking a pipe of sweet hemp"[9]. Some events may have a political nature to them, advocating for the Decriminalization of non-medical cannabis in the United States.

I saw the same thing on TV last night it was kinda interesting. The rancher on there sure wasn't happy. I was up in the Teanaway area last year. Me and my father were driving up to go elk hunting in late archery season. I was watching the side of the road down by a creek and thought I saw a coyote. I quickly jumped out of the truck to try and get a shot off at it. When I got a better look at it it was way to big to be a coyote. My father said it was a Wolf. It was a big one. It watched us for about a minit and then ran off. I wish I had a camera.

Go to saveelk.com and read the article in the middle  that's flashing  from the Outdoorsman.  If this is true about those introduced wolves bringing in a weird tapeworm that cant be killed except by physically operating on whoever or whatever has it plus it's highly contageous.  We are in trouble. Sounds like the eggs are shucking every place those wolves move around and you can get them by handling them without gloves.  Did some research on it and they can get into your brain or heart and form cysts and kill you.  they are picked up by livestock eating the grass and of course game animals.  This may the demise of all our game if they are allowed to continue to propogate.  Maybe this was part of the plan.  Could be.
