I'm moving to the Seattle at the end of the month from Alaska and would like some guidance with hunting. I would like to hunt deer next year, but for now upland and small game help would be great. I also love to duck hunt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What the hell! You've got so much great hunting up in the great white north and now you want to come down here to the heavily populated area? Dude! You're SICK!
Welcome. At least you'll know how to drive in the snow.

Now back on topic. I think your going to get here just at the end of the seasons. Duck goes till Jan ? sorry not duck hunting this year so dont know the date. After that its just Yotes and rabbits that I can think of off the top of my head. Just an FYI from Seattle be prepared to drive a ways to get into good hunting. Next is season up will be spring gobblers. I know some good areas for them over in eastern WA but not sure on the wet side.
Welcome to the state. I dream of going to alaska, montana, wyoming and people keep moving here from those places :bash:

if you're looking for pheasant... you'll either have to goto easter WA or hit the heavily overpopulated pheasant release sites.... one tidbit of advice if you have a dog.... wait for someone to move through an area and then follow up behind them and have the dog work extra slow... everyone is in such a hurry they miss tons of birds... that how i limit out... on birds missed by other hunters

Hummm.... Alaska to Washington?????? :chuckle: :chuckle: :bdid:
Welcome to the site!! ;)
Word of advice... watch out for all of the anti hunters in the Seattle area. Not a very friendly place for us outdoorsman to live in.Eastern wash. perhaps. Less people over there. Watch out for the hippies on their bikes they might run you over if they found out what you like to do. :yike: Hope you like sitting in traffic!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
Goodluck!!

Keep your Alasks residency, so when hunting season comes around you can go back there. this state is getting worse and worse every year for hunting.

Hunting and fishing in Washington are both open year round and it can be loads of fun. There are seasons for different species and these are all in the pamphlets. The rules are actually pretty straight forward and the game dept. can answer any questions you may have about them. While we don't have all the opportunities as Alaska- it is still a great place. Welcome to Washington and I hope you enjoy it here.

Thanks for the replies. All of the advice is helpful. I had to do this same thing when I moved to Alaska. I usually just get a very general sense of an area and head out with the gun.

As stated before WELCOME :hello:. As for the State, has been better but it is what we have. It will be as good or bad as you make it to be. If you are a guy that measures success by limits of game you maybe a bit disappointed. However, if your measure is by getting out and have fun with whatever you get you will love it here. There is some great folks on this board that once you make yourself at home will help you out a little more. Stick around you will see.

I'd pick a more rural place to live or you will have to drive so far to hunt. It's a catch 22, drive far to work or drive far to hunt. I guess it depends what you do for a living. Goodluck.

Well, we just got here and I'm getting the lay of Seattle. I realize that I will be doing some driving to hunt. What is a good fish and game office to get some info from?
Thanks

Welcome to Seattle! I've lived here since '92, all of my adult life. I think the closest F&G office is up in Mill Creek, but you can get most info from the WDFW website.
