My 3 year quest to take this Whitetail buck ended this season, when I shot him after sitting in my stand for 14 days.
I first saw this buck during the 2006 season. That year he spooked when I drew my bow on him from only 12 yards away. In 2007 I got some trail camera photos of him but never had a chance at him during the season. In 2008 I never saw him and only got one trail camera picture of him all year.
This year I got a lot of trail camera pictures of him leading up to the November bowhunt. He seemed to be spending a lot of time on one certain hill. I set up my stand there and knew if I waited long enough eventually he would come by in the daylight.
After one week of sitting in my stand he still hadn't showed up, so I called work and was able to get another week off. Finally, at 10:00 am on Friday of the second week I saw him coming down the trail that would lead him past my stand. He was 100 yards away and the wind was perfect. My heart was beating out of my chest as I drew my bow and waited for him. He came by my stand broadside, 23 yds away. I shot and he whirled and ran downhill straight away from me. After a short wait I looked for him and saw him piled up at the bottom of the hill about 100 yards away. It was a perfect lung shot.
His typical frame scores 148. With stickers added he grosses 156 P&Y.

That's a great buck. I only made it 6 days and came up empty. To kill a specific buck like that after several years is quite an accomplishment.

That's just awesome. It takes some serious determination and patience to put that many days on a tree stand, but you clearly had motivation from the trail cam pics. Way to stick it out. I love the rack on him - especially the extra stickers. Well worth the wait.
