Title: Looking for a youth 22lr

Considering CZ Scout or Savage Cub.

Post by: jdb on December 15, 2009, 04:57:11 PM: I'd suggest the cz or a marlin lil buckaroo the nothing against the savage but theyre SMALL not sure how big your little shooter is but i'd have him/her shoulder the savage before I bought it :twocents:

Post by: Buckmark on December 17, 2009, 11:54:06 AM: One thing to think about is if you dont have any other kids that this will be passed on to would be to get a ruger 10/22 (lots of used for a great price), cut it down to fit your youngster now and buy a replacment stock for them when they grow (and they grow fast)... just my :twocents:

My daughter's little fingers had a hard time with the Henry because she had to reach around and place each round into the chamber before closing the bolt. That little Stevens is nice because it opens up at the hammer making it really easy to load.

Exactly what I would do, you can never go wrong with a 10/22, I love that little carbine version too, I would buy it over the normal one.
