Title: Looking for a youth 22lr
Post by: thinkingman on December 14, 2009, 02:58:10 PM
Anyone want to sell a junior-sized 22?
Considering CZ Scout or Savage Cub.
Mods may move this to classifieds if non-compliant.
TIA.

I'd suggest the cz or a marlin lil buckaroo the nothing against the savage but theyre SMALL not sure how big your little shooter is but i'd have him/her shoulder the savage before I bought it :twocents:

A few years back I bought a CZ scout for my oldest boy. He has outgrown it, but it is almost time to pass it down to his little brother. I am very impressed with the overall quality and the accuracy of that little gun!

Check out the compact 10/22 that Ruger came out with a couple years ago.

One thing to think about is if you dont have any other kids that this will be passed on to would be to get a ruger 10/22 (lots of used for a great price), cut it down to fit your youngster now and buy a replacment stock for them when they grow (and they grow fast)... just my  :twocents:

Stevens Favorite is a cool little single shot for the smaller kids.  Open sights, lever action style.

i have a chipmunk .22 for my daughter (she's 2.5, not quite ready yet...) and it's tiny.  single shot bolt gun.  i think they're marketed under the name cricket now.

Watch out for  rifles without a loading ramp in the action.  My daughter's little fingers had a hard time with the Henry because she had to reach around and place each round into the chamber before closing the bolt.  That little Stevens is nice because it opens up at the hammer making it really easy to load.

Exactly what I would do, you can never go wrong with a 10/22, I love that little carbine version too, I would buy it over the normal one.
