Title: I yelled heads, that will teach him.
Post by: h2ofowlr on December 18, 2009, 01:22:20 PM
Out snow goose hunting yesterday and I dropped a snow.  My buddy was looking right, I yelled heads and it drilled him.  Knocked him on his back.  One of funniest thing I have scene.  I think he was just a little sore today.  Anyone had a similar experience?

That's pretty funny.  Saw a pheasant that my dad's dog had outrun get shot, fall to the earth, bounce and hit the dog right in the ass.

I also saw my dad drop his shotgun and taking off sprinting straight away to try to catch a duck that was falling just over his head.  He barely missed it - went right through his finger tips.  He's probably lucky he didn't get the full weight of the duck...it was damn funny, though.

A professor of mine was waterfowl hunting in N. Dak.  with his dad.  My prof had a swan permit.  About 10am he was sitting there half asleep, next to his dad who was sound asleep, when he saw a swan flying straight at him low over the water.  He pulled up, shot and that swan pile drove his dad ass over teakettle.  Banged him up some, but they sure had fun telling that story.

Very nice.  I once shot a quail coming towards me at mach 3.  It folded up and its momentum carried him over my head, down the embankment and right into the bed of my truck.

had a buffy hit my buddy in the head while in his kayak out in the sound, he went for a swim. luckily it was only a couple feet deep. One of the four kayak accidents I have had the pleasure of watching.

A year ago we were working on a county road not much traffic this time of year and our flagger was bored a half mile away there is a big pond we heard some shooting but paid no attention to it about a min or two later the flagger comes on the radio and says that ducks are falling out of the sky we did not believe him and at break time he showed us a dead mallard that landed about 6 feet in front of him and bounced and stopped right at his feet that was pretty funny about an hour later a couple of duck hunters came by and said they got 3 mallards Danny tried to give them the fourth duck but they did not want it and offered him the three that they killed he only took one of the three ducks so he had enough for dinner we still give him a hard time about hunting ducks on the job LOL

Wow! a snow goose landing on a person could definitely mess him up and even kill him...I dropped a mallard on my buddy, hit him on top of the head,I busted up laughing not knowing it almost knocked him out,he never forgave me for laughing.

I dropped a bandtail pigeon that landed in the back of a Chevy pickup,,I'll never forget the sound it made.

Then just last year I dropped a snow goose onto a large green house, busted right through, had to pay for that one  :'(

When I was in college, I was hunting with a buddy.  A pair of canadas came over, we picked our side, I broke the wing first shot.  It came angling down at my buddy in the other end of the canoe.  He was so focused on trying to get his that he saw it at the last 1/4 second and ducked (goosed) just in time.  The thing hit a foot and a half away from the canoe.  That would have hurt!

Missed the hood of my dad's Jeep Cherokee by two feet as well.

No one hit by a bird yet, however we did learn not to shoot at a large flock of lesser's directly overhead.  It was like the battle over brittan, AA fire up with a severe bombing from the sky.  Not sure who won this one, I now know where the term "loose as a goose" comes from.

I was in a blind my buddy and I built on a point in the Columbia River. 2 Bluebills came over, I stood up and killed the first one, the second one continued directly overhead, I turned and killed him just as the first one hit me between the shoulder blades and knocked the wind out of me and knocked me on my face right through the blind. My buddy was laughing so hard he fell out of the right side of the blind. That was my first double lol :P

When I was in high school I was duck/goose hunting in South Dakota, I was in a boat with my stepdad and my uncle and his son were in an other boat a little ways away.  I had a Canadian coming in pretty fast and let fly on him.  I got him but he kept going and landed in the other boat.  Scared the crap out of my uncle, he fell out of the boat and was a little angry.  My stepdad and I thought it was hilarious.

LOL, I saw that one too, and after that they enforced a no shooting zone within in so many feet of the dike parking area. And probably a good thing, that place was getting dangerously cerazee! lol
