I went out this morning. I was using cougar whistles, purring and woodpecker distress. I made two stands at about two hours each. On the last stand, at about an hour, I heard some squirrels going crazy off in the trees behind me. I am positive they were not barking at me. I finally had to try and turn around real slowly but never saw anything. Was a little nerve racking thinking there might be a cat coming in behind me, especially since my legs had fallen asleep. I was to wet, cold and tired to try another stand so I came home. Trying a different area tomorrow.

I went out this morning, the dog ended up getting out though and following me so i thought i was gonna just track a couple and set up a stand for next time. But as i came down off a hill into a little wooded and so foggy i couldn't see 40yds in front of me area, it all got real quiet except for the sound of something running in the snow. Now, my gun is sighted at 150yds, and this was maybe 50-60yds away from me. My dog started going crazy! Howling and barking, started chasing, but then turned back cause we heard it again, she nudged my hand and bolted in the opposite direction up the hill. So i started walking up a hill where i could see better and played a coyote challenge howl. The running sound disappeared, my dog laid down on top of the hill whining, and then i heard something over on the hill across from us. So i went to where i heard the running sounds. Deer prints in the center and about 8 coyote's tracks chasing it. If only it hadn't been so damn foggy..

Went out this morning, Had to cut my way thru the fog with a machete. Nada for dogs
-
pretty sure you'll get in some trouble if you have your dog with you while yote hunting. I'm not accusing you of anything but if you were using your dog to hunt yotes that's illeagle
-
I went out today for about 5 hours, shot at one dog that I kicked out of his bed. Nothing responded to any of the calls, pretty slow for some reason. :dunno:

MHWASH and I went out Saturday on some of the best coyote ground i've hunted in a while. Didn't see or hear one. Did manage to blow the hell out of a porky though. Must be the weather, they just didn't move at all. Hopefully it freezes up and snows real soon. I hate this mucky weather.

Before the fog broke yesterday, my range finder would read between 14 and 16 yards. Didn't matter if I was pointing it at something or straight up in the air....
