So, I've a new spot I plan to hang a camera on, and it's about 4 miles behind a gate that stays locked year around. The area is thick reprod, but I found a small fern meadow in it that's cut with sign I'd like to scout. I know there won't be any traffic back here so I'm looking to get a higher dollar camera to set up since I'm not concerned about theft out there.
I'm looking hard at the Cuddeback Capture with the 5MP and IR. Does anyone have some pictures they could share? Both day and night if possible. It only takes 1.3MP pictures at night, so I'm a bit concerned about the quality there. Also, it only runs on 4 D cell batteries, so I'm concerned about battery life.
Any testimonials, experiences, and pictures those of you who have used this camera would be great! Appreciate it!

It takes great pics day and night! One of the best on the market if you dont mind having no video. Very fast trigger and great battery life. Its also very simple to use and set up. Ive had my cuddeback out for 2 1/2 months before on rayovac batteries without changing them. The low mp at night is because of the IR, most trailcams get about the same quality from IR. You would be very happy with that camera. I would also check out the new small bushnell camera, I had great luck with my first bushnell til a bear ate it. :)
Here are some pics from the cuddeback capture IR

I have no complaints with my cudde Ir here are a few pictures, I would also recommend investing in a bear box I think they cost about 30 dollars. Money well spent :twocents:

Haha this isn't the pay to play area!
Appreciate the feedback and the example pictures guys! I was curious about that little Bushnell camera, saw it at Sportsmans or whatever it's called these days. I don't typically buy anything Bushnell though, I've never been a fan of their quality. Right now I've got a couple stealth cam's up on the spot. Looking to get one of these cameras before I head back to school for break, and when I go grab the cameras that are there I'll replace it with the Cudde.

jellymon love the pic of that bear...AlanK its all pay to play...

Maybe in gas to drive to the gate, but nothing in terms of paying for an access permit. This is Weyerhauser land.
Anyone tried those new little Bushnell cameras? The more reviews I read the less sure I am. Most say that the Bushnell doesn't operate under forty degrees, at least not well. At the same time I've been reading that the Cuddeback's IR is not good. I think this is their first IR camera, though I could be wrong, and it sounds like they might be having some 'first generation' problems. For example, a lot of white overexposed pictures unless it is very bright out. If it's a dark day it'll take IR pictures 24/7.

Not far from my house either. Good area, but gets hammered! :bash: I love the valley though ;)

Alan K, I have 2 of the Bushnell trophy cams.. I love the battery life, there not as hi-tec as the other cams, no lazer aiming, but they are light weight and easy to use. They do work great for me.. I have them out over some bait right now, so I'll let you no what happens..

Out of 100's of pics, I have never gotten a white overexposed picture on my capture IR. It has taken IR pics during early morning and late evening but they are very clear. I would rather have IR pics than dark ones I cant make out. Great camera! Does what it is supposed to do and does it well. :P

I have the Bushnell Trail Camera 5MP Moon Phase 11-9205C . It seems to be really slow to take a pic. I just got it for Christmas and have it out on the front porch. I have walked in front of it a few times and had the kid and it is really slow to take a pic. I am trying to get a few shots of the racoons around here. I am going to let it sit tell the batteries are dead to see how long I can get out of the bats.
Will post pics and how long bat life when it is dead
