Im new here and had some good suggestions and would welcome more concerning hunting in washington. But what does on mean does choose your own weapon mean? Does that mean that if i bow hunt thats the only weapon i can hunt with that year.I ask this trying not to sound like a idiot.Just trying to understand the rules so i can be legal and stay out of trouble with the man.

For deer hunting, you have to pick either archery, muzzleloader, or modern firearms, and can only hunt the seasons for that weapon. For elk, same choices, PLUS you are restricted to either eastern or western WA. There are multi-season permits (currently 1,500 for deer and 500 for elk), which are both a drawing and a hefty extra fee. These will let you hunt all general seasons for the species, using the respective weapons.

:)trying to make it clear. doublelung is correct, but you can hunt archery for deer and rifle for elk or the other way. or Muzzle loader. But hat ever way you pick for deer is it! or Elk you cannot change in mid season.
