got my sendero from my grandpa and it was just a bare gun. For christmas my family bought me everything to outfit this gun. Its a .300 RUM :chuckle:

Thats what I was thinking :chuckle: Mark

nice.... looks like loads of fun...
-
specs on the scope and mounts?
looks good..... even with the mushroom head.
-
scope? how much does that tank weigh? :chuckle:
-
the scope is a pentax gameseeker 4-12x40. And its mounted on silver weaver bases and tall weaver scope rings. I would guesss its somewhere in the ballpark of 13 pounds after i mounted the brick of a bipod ! :yike:

A scope with a 3" eye relief on an Ultramag?! You're in for a lot of headaches... bring a good first aid kit!!! :yike:

I'm thinkin that if you call tech support, the barrel deresonator should be somewhere near mid shaft.. Not so close to the muzzle.

i read on the package and it said for floated barrels it should be 3/4 of an inch from the muzzle. and for non floated barrels it should be closer to the stock. it looked a little goofy to me being so close to the muzzle, but i guess thats how its supposed to be :dunno:
And straight shooter, i was a little skeptical of buying the scope for that reason alone, but it actually has better eye relief than the specs say. i shouldnt have any problems with eye relief.....but if i do, i'll be kicking myself for it :chuckle:

Nice looking rifle, heavy....but nice.
-
I'll bet that eye relief won't be a problem. 13# should be enough to make that pretty comfortable to shoot. Just watch out when shooting prone. :chuckle:

great rifle...i agree about the cock ring...
good luck with it...great looking rig.

I had the same gun 10.5 llbs out of the box. It shot great but packing it all day dug into my shoulder, I used it for 2 years then traded it in on the none sendero verson.

Reading the LimbSaver package:
"will work anywhere on the barrel, however, optimum position has been determined to be closer to the stock or muzzle."
In my experience and talking to others that have them installed on various rifles, mid barrel length, whether floated or not, has provided the best accuracy enhancement. YMMV.

Thanks Steve, I guess i didnt read it right. i think it wont look quite as goofy in the mid barrel so i'll definitely have to move it down some.
And thank you everyone. I'm really excited about the rifle, minus it weighing so much. I have heard a lot of good things about the remington 700's so i got high hopes for this rem 700 sendero. It'll be my first .300RUM :IBCOOL:

Do you reload?
my dad used to reload for his .44 and now that we both got ultra mags he says we are going to start reloading them. so i will not be buying the sirrocco's like i was planning. We'll be reloading this gun as well as my dad's

Does it shoot better with the cock ring?
-
not sure, i have not shot this gun yet. the deresonator was given to me as a christmas present and i didnt see any harm in puttin it on. I'll have to get back to you on that 257 Wby Mag

Does it shoot better with the cock ring?
yes it tends to shoot allot farther lol lol lol
-
Just curious. That'll be a good shootin iron for ya. Let us know how she shoots. Later

If you are going to reload then you dont need to tune the barrel harmonics with the cock ring.
Varying powder charge and seating depth will do it.

COCK RING!!! :chuckle:

With my best tuned hand load over the years for one particular rifle, I added a de-resonator and reduced groups by a significant amount.

i have seen some test shooting done with the cock ring on a T/C Encore and it made them group worse. i can't get on the site here at work or i'd post a link...firearms websites are blocked by a firewall.
