Hello, new here been reading alot of post very informative site. new to coyote hunting and wondering about how the hunting is when its nasty out like today here in the olympia area. do the coyotes stay low or can they be called out??
-
Not much of a yote fan on the wetside side but the rain seems to hamper the bobs,And while calling in the rain I have yet to produce..so I dont waste my gas or time.
-
i have called very few in bad weather they tend to lay low. but best right before a storm hits like with all animals they are up and on the move looking for some chow.
-
Mist or light rain doesn't seem to bother them but I haven't hunted them in the heavy stuff. Had one jump up on a log and sit down right next to me in a light rain near McCleary.

Well,
How did the calling go last night??

I havent had any luck in the rain either.....so I tend to avoid it as well.

:)BUT ya gotta be out there because the breaks between the rains kick butt. and try getting in under timber.

I did go out late last night pretty windy and rainy only saw 4 doe took my 10 year old son with me to a spot where we found a bunch of bones a few weeks ago hoping to see what hangs out there, he enjoyed it until he was cold and wet

Heavy rain slows 'em down unless they're hungry. Try forested land. You're Oly are... try the Winston unit by Mossyrock. Good luck.

Last couple weeks I have gone 4 times in Capitol Forest.Twice with no rain and had answers back to my calls, one looker coyote too far for my 12ga.Twice in rain/wind with no answers that I heard...

My bobcat and my coyote were both called in while pouring down rain. :dunno: I go out every weekend I can rain or not. Cant get them from the house.

One thing you have to remember hunting the "Wet Side" as much as it rains over there, if all the predators waited for the perfect day to go hunting for food they would all be dead in a month.....So yeah they do have to get out even in the rain to feed or else......... :)
Hope this helps....
