saw this shirt posted on 24hour for sale and had to look it up.325 for a shirt :yike: i pay some high prices for my sitka stuff but its water proof, wind proof and warm. as far as i can tell this is a shirt :o any of you guys seen these before?
-
:yike: wtf no way
-
man now i kinda want one :chuckle:
-
i read it again and saw that it has elbow patches, that explains the high price
-
Designed after the shirts that settled the frontier, our Frontier Shirt is a lightweight, no frills shirt that performs without bulk in warm weather. Its breathable weave is designed for early season hunting. The shirt features a quiet and concealed button system, elbow patches and flap-covered chest pockets.
If I'm paying that much, I want the frills. In fact, I want a motorcycle attached to it.
-
better have hot and cold running whores for that price
-
the buttons are hidden so you wont scare away any live game. that is AWESOME. Maybe backwoods boy and put his logo on some and sell'em for a few grand or so.
-
pretty good one rasbo made me laugh out load
-
i forgot about the buttons, you cant see um but there there, that will be 325 please
-
I didn't read anywhere what material it is made out of........must be gold lined or somethin for that price.

-
better have hot and cold running whores for that price
no whores please, we want fresh girls for that money thanks.
Nice shirts, but who in their right mind would pay so much for a damn shirt? :dunno:
-
Does it come with a montana elk tag?
-
Just throw on my $1000.00 ostrich Sorels coupled with my new shirt and a real man would be ready to dance!! Banjo music please ::
-
There must be something we don't know... like the last guy who wore one of these (paid 25.00) shot a world record 600" elk or a 250" typical whitetail.... There fore it has magical powers and increases the demand and there fore price of the shirt
-
Pretty damn steep price tag ! I just sent them an email asking them for any information as to why they are so highly priced. Have any of you looked at their full line of gear ? There is a pair of camo bibs that are $505.00 !!! They better be solar warmed with sent blocker to boot !
-
So I sent an email as stated above.. Here is his reply.
Cameron
Thanks for your candid email. After 28 years of selling the highest priced hunting clothing and gear there is no day that we don't have to 'explain' why it is that our gear is 'worth it'. You can go on EBAY and see day after day, auction after auction of our gear that is 10, 15, 20 years old and selling for more than it sold for NEW. That's not the reason.
You can log onto our website, go to the bottom of the page and click "Testimonials" and read literally 100's of people telling hunt story after hunt story. You can also see literally 100's of pictures of them with this year's critter. That's not the reason.
I could tell you all the benefits: radiant fabric that generates it's own low-level infrared heat; more scent suppressant than any other natural fiber; more fire retardant and ARC FLASH suppressant than Dupont's NOMEX oz/oz; more durable than any garment you own; keeps you warmer, more comfortable in all seasons; has been used to kill the baddest, biggest, meanest, toughest on every continent and weather condition known to man (yes, both two legged and four legged); has the highest temperature range of any garment; highest resale; lowest cost long term; highest value. Those aren't the reason.
It could be then that it's because we make the fabric right here in the USA. And it's the only patent pending fabric of its kind in the history of the US Patent Office going back to its founding- almost 200 years. That's not the reason.
We could spout story after story of completed missions; crashed float planes through the ice (many); days spent in snow caves (100's); nailed down by enemy fire and wounded (too many); all my buddies froze their ass off (God only knows). Those aren't the reason.
We could talk about it in terms of lives saved in the last almost 30 years. That's not the reason.
We could point to all the press reports. So what? The press will say what you pay them to say and everyone knows it. So that can't be the reason.
How about all the lives that have been blessed by all the game that gave its life? Nope, don't think so.
There are zillions of competing products out there with a nice camo pattern- they all promise that they'll make you invisible. Our does, too.... so what... we all know that the deer, turkey, elk an Taliban really don't care. It all works more or less anyway. Want proof? Look at the pictures of some genius hunting sheep in AK wearing Mossy Oak or Real Tree! So that ain't it.
*censored*, now that I think about it all, I'm wondering how we can justify making a living at all for the last 30 years...since 1981 anyway... please pardon the exaggeration. It's put my kids through college- one left to go! My truck is only 3 years old.. and I live in a decent house. No partners or shareholders and I get to do pretty much what I want, when I want. But, obviously that's not the reason either.
In the end I'd guess that after you sift through it all, the only 'reason' is our customer's reason. It's the only one that matters. Whether you called us from a satellite phone from Afghanistan; gave us your VISA and shipped it to your mom so she could send it on to you to save you from another freezing night of looking through a scope laying on a windy, wet hill or just wanted to go to Alberta and sit dark to dark at 30 below zero waiting for a big whitetail- we'd make you the shirt you ordered. We'd also know for sure- beyond a shadow of a doubt in our mind that you'd be getting what you paid for. We'd know because Omnitherm and Omnilite aren't some ad genius' *censored*in' experiment.
You go read all the labels in all the clothing you've ever bought. I'll bet you my net worth that they all say, "Wool or Cotton or Polyester or Polypropylene" . The label is the only place that the manufacturer can't lie to you. So what's the difference between them? Nothing. That 100% polyester that you bought 2 years ago isn't any warmer and won't perform any better than that 100% polyester you are looking at right now.
Omnitherm and Omnilite are different than anything else you own now; have ever purchased; and will ever buy. The rest comes with it. Don't know anyone else that can send all that to you but King of the Mountain, Inc.
That's our reason.
You asked a candid question and I thought you deserved a candid reply.
Happy New Year!
King

sounds like a long winded answer with no real answer. :twocents:

Wool, I figured it would be similar to Pendalton with that price,
From their website:
In today's marketplace, there is no shortage of techno-jargon, promises and claims about the "ultimate". But after twenty years of study, refinement, and unsurpassed field performance, we deliver King of the Mountain Omnitherm® wool with an assurance that does not require a degree in textile engineering to decipher.
TECHNICAL WOOL
Omnitherm® is woven in a special 5-ply configuration that sheds water much like the fur on a wolf or shingles on a roof.
Omnitherm® is a shrink-stabilized, weather-tight multi-ply woven wool fabric -- a long way of saying our process makes the wool more water and wind repellent, more durable, higher in loft, better at insulating and far more breathable.
Stabilizing a wool fabric for repeated trips through a washing machine is a difficult job. It requires additional time and expense, along with close attention to materials.
We spin our own 100% virgin wool yarn with an exclusive process using only fine grade top cut (not scratchy) wool with a high percentage of long fiber.
The 100% virgin wool is spun in an exclusive process that interlocks the short and long fibers into an exceptionally strong, durable, and stable woolen yarn.
Each color of Omnitherm® is a yarn dyed separately with our own organic dyes which are absolutely UV neutral. That means they will reflect light exactly like the rest of the natural world so that you won't stand out in any wavelength of light. And of course our dyes are colorfast so the pattern won't fade away.
Omnitherm's® Camouflage pattern isn't printed onto the fabric -- it's woven in, on specialized fine index looms. They isolate one color yarn on top and hide the four additional strands underneath. We use the best looms of their kind in the world.
The fabric that comes off these looms is tight enough to earn a dry clean or hand wash label, but it's not ready for the Omnitherm® label. We finish the fabric with an exclusive process that includes repeated shrinking.
The end result is a fabric that is unmatched in field performance and ease of care.

I don't care what his non-answer answer was. It's still $351.00 for a shirt!
-
I read his answer, then went to the website...Still to much money
-
Funny, he says that people buy it because it lasts. But it looks like none of you are buying..... :chuckle:
-
Hell, for $1500 you get pants, shirt and a jacket :chuckle:
-
The guy sounds like quite the salesman.......and he probably needs to be really good at talking with prices like that. :o
-
Nice. But too rich for my wallet. How many guys can honestly justify spending that kind of money on that stuff ? I suppose the pants are about as much or more ? 600.00 + for shirt and pants ? Not this guy.
-
$837 for a jacket?
i think i got a little puke in my mouth reading his response.
-
I have to agree with him on one point, watch some of their clothing on E-bay and they go for lots of money. I watched some before i went on a trip to Idaho two years ago and the used jacket still went for $400.00 +. i am glad i bid on it because it ended up being 50 degrees every day, peoplr pay crazy money money for it. :yike:
-
I can get by just fine if I have to with $10 military surplus wool pants and a $5 shirt from Goodwill. Hell will freeze over before I buy anything from King of the Mountain. I'm sure it's nice stuff, but I'd have to win the lottery first before I'd even consider it.
-
I would like to get a review from someone who actually wears this stuff just out of curiosity? I mean is it really that good or is it like buying a set of LL Been waders, lol
I have wanted a Pendelton wool shirt for years and could never justify the price over standard fleece.
I am real

x2 on the pendelton

I just checked the Filson website and their virgin wool shirts are $140. That is a lot of money too, but it is a hell of a lot less than that King of the Mountain stuff. Filson makes some really good clothing too. I'm not sure if they are still made in Seattle though.
-
To expensive for my blood!
However the cost of an item is what the market will sustain. In other words people are paying the price so more power to the company. They do not have a monopoly on the camo market so I don't have a problem with them charging whatever floats there boat. Myself I'll stick to what works for me and cheaper.

-
I wish I could afford it. But, a whole outfit is about 7 trips to the Potholes, and I already stay warm.
-
Damn, for that price it better be delivered by a curvy, blond intern with no gag reflex.
I suppose if you have the money to burn go for it, but I have better things to spent it on.

i got a fmaily member that gets alota hunting clothes from good will and we give him $@#% for it till we started realizing some of that stuff was better than ours :chuckle:. i hunted in bad weather with military wool pants till prob 16, i still got em too
-

Oh, lord.
-
I am concerned that if anyone does pipe in on this thread about how great of a product it is that they will get chastized just for buying the stuff. :chuckle:
I am very intrigued, but not intrigued enough to purchase. i don't think I can justify spending the same on a pair of pants as I would a rifle. I haven't been able to bite the bullet for Sitka pants yet, so I am sure that I am not up 2 or 3 price tiers from there.
Maybe someday when money is no object we can go down this path and support King Cavalier II.

Hmmmm .325 is 32 and a half cents, pretty cheap in my book

The one thing I'll say about King of the Mountain (or Sleeping Indian Designs) is that it's a once-in-a-lifetime investment. Just don't get fat :chuckle:
It's high-grade stuff for sure but personally, I only wear wool in late season treestands anymore or possibly still-hunting in cold, rainy weather. I just get too dang hot in any other situation.
-
I am already fat - so If I buy at my biggest, I should only have t worry about getting skinny.
bow4elk - do you own King of the Mountain stuff - is it truly a once in a lifetime investment?
-
Geezus! You guys are a bunch of cheap asses! :chuckle:
Wish I could afford that stuff! I worked for a guy in the early 90's who had the complete outfit. He then had owned the stuff for about 5 years. I think he paid about that much for it back then. He passed away a couple years ago but as far as I know he was still using the same stuff.
From what I have been told it lives up to it's reputation and price tag.
-
saw you guy mention these shirts and this looks like some good prices, tho i dont know much about the brand

Yes, it will last a lifetime. King C. is a perfectionist and his stuff is great. Too spendy for my wallet though. I have one top and a Sleeping Indian shirt that I bought from a buddy in new condition. Love it but don't wear it much. Need to drop about 15 so I can draw my bow in it :chuckle:
-
I have a Jacket, Shirt and pant. I purchased it like 15 years ago when it was much cheaper, WAY, WAY cheaper in fact. It is soo expensive now I would rather buy a pistol or other shooting equipment before I would purchase any more pieces. But it is really, really nice stuff and tough as nails.
