Alright guys, whats your favorite gun and choke to use on pheasant??
-
870 with a modified choke and #5 lead shot. :hello:
-
686 beretta IM IM #6 lead
-
Browning A5 light. Full - #5 lead shot.
-
870,26 inch barrel 6 shot
-
When I have to shoot steel I like an A5 mag - Mod with 3" #2s.
-
I carry an old Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight in 12 ga with full choke. I like it because it's short, light enough to carry all day, ejects out the bottom and I've been carrying it since I was 14. It just feels right. I bought an 870 express a few years back that is great for waterfowl and turkey but is a little long and heavy for busting brush all day. At least for me.
-
Ruger red label satin all weather.
26" tubes.
I have become kindof fond of My Stoeger 2000 auto. Its a nice gun also.
-
Mossberg 5500MKII in 12ga with Mod Choke and #4steel. Hoping i can upgrade to a SxS one day. I know it holds one less shot but to me a SxS is the quintessential upland gun.
-
20 ga Rem 1100 lightweight model with mod choke
-
toss up between my bss grade 2 when I wanna show off.....

or my 1900 vintage belgian guild gun in 16ga. this is the lightest fastest handling gun you will ever touch.

Ruger Red Label 28 GA Modified and Full choke.
-
i shoot a bicel 12 guage i run a mod i/c with #7 for west side birds and #7 then #5 for east side #9 for quail
-
i have a engraved browning light 12 that was given to me from my grandpa it was his best friends, he passed away and my grandpa wanted to see it used so for upland i like to use it on the nice days but also love my browning bps
-
Ruger Red Label 12 ga. Modified and Full Choke.
-
Either my Charles Daly Miroku 28 gauge O/U....skeet and skeet, or what I used for many of my younger years ....a Remington 11-48 28 gauge bored skeet. Behind good pointing dogs, there is no equal....lightweight, fast swinging and birds down within 25 yards....easy retrieves. Absolute death on quail.
-
I used to take out my SKB 12 gauge every time. Now my little Beretta Golden Snipe 20 gauge goes with me. If I was still hunting over my Golden then I probably would shoot the 12. I have been hunting over a pointer this past year though. I use #4 shot in the 20.
-
Remington 870 26" barrel with either a IC or MOD choke
-
I use my remington 870 express, 12 gauge....but have been contemplating a 20 gauge. Any recommendations???
-
870 12 gauge modified would prefer a full choke with lead but most places I hunt I'm hunting ducks at the same time so its steel 4's and 2's
-
Remington 1187, or 1187 supermag or 870, I just like to pheasant hunt :chuckle:. The gun is not near as important to me as the hunt itself. I love watching the dog(s) work and the fall/winter landscape. Whatever gun I had would be my favorite for any hunt :IBCOOL:.
-
26" Ruger Redlabel with a full choke over modified.
-
benelli SBE 2... and from time to time i'll take the .12 guage super nova out... I M choke...
-
I shoot a Remington 11-87 12ga with 6's and a modified choke
-
Me and empty handed see it the same, 11-87/12/#6, 2.75 shells, Mod choke
-
What ever is in my hands when the birds flush. I don't have a single favorite I like them all with Remington long range express 5's or 7 1/2's.
-
My Belgium Browning A5. Wouldn't use anything else!
-
The only 12 ga I own is a Mossberg 835 ulti mag, does just fine for me so far. I like my old springfeild 20 ga as well.
-
rem 870 feather lite 20ga. i think it has a mod in it. and my reloads 7 shot
-
1187 remmy and 3" #5 shot with a mod. choke
-
12ga; 3 inch
-
12ga; 3 inch
pheasant or peridactyl?
-
12ga; 3 inch
pheasant or peridactyl?
Is there any other that a 12? Bigger is better, and I can shoot a meth maggot in the ass from distance if my truck is being broken into. :chuckle:
-
My new CZ woodcock 12ga. o/u
-
28" Ruger Red Label 20 ga, Modified and full.

12 GA Browning Gold Hunter with 28 in barrel and 3 in. 4 Shot Shells. Nice balancing semi-auto! :)

My 108 yr. old damascus barreled Lefever 16ga. sxs (designed for nitro and black powder loads) with 2.5" chambers and low pressure 1 oz. 6's roll-crimped handloads at 1300 fps. Absolutely deadly out to 50 yards, and looks beautiful doing it.

Gorgeous piece of history.
-
I have a 23+ y.o. Winchester Ranger that is my go-to killer. My Italian O/U and Benelli are a lot classier, but I don't kill as well with them as the old Winchester.
-
My favorite would be my dads Antonio Zoli over and under 12g shooting 2 3/4 #6.
-
When I was in England I used my Huglo or artimez o/u I picked up in Turkey, both are double trigger, full choke, they shoot 2 3/4 to 3 inch. I killed over 160 pheasants with them in 2003, plus around 500 woodland pigeons. Where I live now there isn't much for upland game, so they sit in the safe wrapped in towels, unless I go to shoot trap or skeet with them.

my 16 is of the same vintage, isn't it sad that they don't build guns this light and sleek anymore? I would rather cary my old 16 them my new franchi alcione.....purely based on handling.
you have a plan for when they make us go non tox? seems we oughta be great great grandfathered in..........lol.
-
I almost bought a Lefever sxs the other day but the non toxic stopped me. Now its gone.
-
I have its twin in 12ga. that I think I will be listing on gunbroker in the next few days. It's actually in nicer shape, and I have almost two full boxes of no tox #5's to go with it.
If you're going to shoot no tox in old guns, you pretty much have to reload to make it halfway affordable.
