Title: Yote with the shotty round 2
Post by: hogsniper on January 05, 2010, 06:45:56 PM
Well the first set of the day paid off with another nice dog!  He came in atleast twice before I killed him but was coming upwind thru the brush.  He finally came into view on the exact trail I got the other one 2 weeks ago.  This time I was using the call Killbilly gave me from bearmanrick!   In the last 3 weeks we have killed almost 25 coyotes. 4 called in and the rest have been with a spotlight!   Heres some pics from today!!!

Wow what a pile of fur!  Hogsniper, how are you spotlighting them?  Are you calling?  Driving and spotting?  I'd like to try the night hunting but haven't had much luck doing so.

Well my brother in law has a huge potatoe farm so i have lots of ground to cover.   We call some and then light em up but mostly just shining em on those clear cold nights.   Seen up to 11 and shot up to 6 in one night.   Its nice having 2000 acres to hunt.

Very nice.  What shot are you shotgunning them with?

Since i am jumping sloughs for ducks on the way back from these spots I just bring steel BBB.     I hunt open grassy flats surrounded by timber.  All shots are going to be under 30 yards.   If I was in a different situation I would switch to buck shot or switch guns all together!

First I want to say great job and great pix!

I have been having trouble and think I need to change my tactics up. I also have a shotty so I figured its time to put it to work.

Now I just need to figure out how to get them in shotty range like you do!
