We hooked up with Turkey Slayer for a late season quail hunt earlier this week in Central Washington.
We covered alot of ground and hunted hard for a day and a half and managed to find birds in several different public hunting access areas.
On day one we hunted in a day long snow storm and the birds were holding extra tight for Otis our German Short Haired Pointer. Slayer almost got knocked over by one bird which rocketed out of a bush and bounced off his leg! :yike:
We "lost" Otis several times only to find him on solidly on point in thick sagebrush.
We ended up with 10 California Quail in our game bags and missed an opportunity on a cagey late season ring-necked rooster.
Huns and Chukars were scarce.............only found a few tracks in the snow.
Overall, had a great hunt and only saw one other hunting party during our adventure.
Hope to hear about other's late season upland bird excursions. Still time to get after em. :)
Slayer or I will post pictures this weekend.

Yep it was a blast. one of the best upland hunts I ever have been on. I have never seen birds hold that hard.
