Title: Are the deer officially dropping ?
Post by: littlebuf on January 13, 2010, 06:53:17 PM: title pretty much says it, seeing the sheds start to hit the web site but it seems kinda early to me :dunno: maybe I'm just losing track of time. havent seen a buck for a week or so, ill try to get a look at one this weekend

Post by: Big10gauge on January 13, 2010, 07:09:13 PM: I was thinking it's gotta be pretty soon, saw several bucks Saturday still wearing their sets. Called 22 deer in Sunday while coyote hunting, 3 bucks in the bunch still had antlers, didn't see any that had dropped yet.

So there you have it the oficial word on the subject.

All kiding aside. Not sure what you mean by official but a few always start dropping about now, here in central Wa majority really start around end of Febrary. I still keep my distance, even though the flat and bucks dont have a winter and stress is no a factor, it is nice to keep tabs on them and not run them out of an area. :twocents:

I got quite a few pics but everyone was blurry and really far away. :bash: I'm gonna head back up to that same spot with my dad's nice camera (which is a far better one than mine) and try to get some decent pics if he's still in the area. There was also a small buck with him that you could see both of his horn pedestals but no horns. Im assuming he was a spike last year considering how small a deer he was.

Post by: bow4elk on January 21, 2010, 09:53:32 AM: Saw a really nice 2x3 blacktail walking across the road yesterday with a great set of bones still securely attached. He ducked through some low-hanging cedar limbs on the other side of the road and his rack pushed through without falling off. I will be back checking that trail in a couple weeks!

All still packin'... I did see a forkhorn muley today that was only packing one side. Gettin' close over here...

Post by: hirshey on February 14, 2010, 12:36:25 PM: Went out yesterday... my boyfriend called in a pair of coyotes waiting for me to come down a big draw.. spooked them and they ran right up past me. He found one really nice 3 pt., and we saw two large bucks still packing: a 3 point and a 4x.

Post by: blacktail luv on February 15, 2010, 09:33:56 PM: went up to my usual shed hunting area hoping to find some in a big meadow that i usually find a couple in. had the two kids with me so they weren't being too quiet but we did see a few deer. we found four antlers unfortunately they were still attached to the deer. Maybe in a couple weeks.
