I have a 450marlin but have not shoot any animals with it yet.
-
Does a pear tree count....if so..yes. :chuckle:

I'm with you Hoyt & would like to see some responses. I put a 2X7 Leupold on mine, but only use it when I'm in the thick stuff & if it's not raining. If it's wet or I expect a longer shot I use my stainless, synthetic 30-06.
So far all I've shot with it is paper.

Shot an antelope with my 45/70 and open sights this year. Close enough??

So i have mine sighted in 2" high at 100yds it should be good out to 250yds shooting 325grain bullet. i put a 2.5 power scout leupold scope on my 1895MXLR im getting about 1" to 11/2" grouping

nope not with the 450 but the 444 i have it was a buddys gun he doesnt live here anymore loved to shoot yotes and diggers with that thing if you were within 6" they would get knocked out from the percusion :chuckle: great times

Gutpile, What was the range?
-
Dont remember exact range. It was either 110 or 120 with a rangefinder. Hit it a little back but it dropped like hit by lightening. Mature doe.

I hit a couple of rabbits with mine. :chuckle: That Hornady Flextip ammo is pretty good stuff in the accuracy department. My gun was and 1895M GG setup with a Burris scout scope and the whole XS lever scout rail/ghost ring sight. It would give 1.5" 3 shot groups at 100yds with the scope. It may have been capable of better, but not with me shooting it. FWIW, I went with a 400gr Speer FP for my standard load. They shot almost as well as the Hornadys. The Flex tips just opened to fast for my liking.
