Step one is to wash your surface.  Get it as clean as you can.  If you have any wax on it you can use some rubbing alcohol to clean any residue left after washing.

Step two is to position your decal where you want it and tape it down on the top.

When removing the backing paper do it slowly and make sure all your vinyl is staying on the transfer tape.  You dont want to put your decal on and realize that the dot on your "I" is still on the wax backing.  If you notice any lifting just lay it back down and rub it a little and try again.

The vinyl I use is some of the best stuff made.  It will last for many, many years even in extreme weather.  You just have to be careful when installing, once the adhesive touches the surface it will stick instantly and you will not be able to move it.  So you want to make sure you have it positioned and level.  If you have a large decal or you are worried about it you can use a fine mist sprayer filled with water and a drop of liquid dish soap.  Lightly spray the surface with the water.  This will allow you some repositioning and to get out any air bubbles.  If you use the water you have to squeegee out all the water.  I would leave the transfer tape on for a couple of hours to make sure the decal sticks to the glass.

When removing the transfer tape, do it slowly and peel it back on itself with a rocking back and forth motion.  If you cleaned your surface and got any water out from under the decal you wont have any problems.

How about one with  crosshairs from a scope with 4 different animal heads in each corner? I saw it on here somewhere.  I found it, It's Re: Official Hunting-Washington Decals!!! « Reply #38

Can you do something along the lines of that?  :dunno: Just curious? Maybe add a moose and a bighorn instead of the birds.

That is very cool that you are doing this Kain....nice work.

I also like the idea of an arrow slash between the hunt/wa...or maybe a bullet also.

That is Backwoods-boys design.  I can do something similar if you like.  Just remember the more stuff you add the smaller they are and they will be hard to see from a distance.

Good idea guys, I will see what I can do.

Look pretty good.  I could do more detail if it was bigger.

I would have to cut one out to see what the smallest size I could make it.

More designs available on main page.  Still working on muley, bobcat, turkeys, and then pheasant.  If any of you have pictures that would make a good silhouette that would be cool.  I like the stickers all looking the same so they are recognizable but if you have other ideas thats cool.

I've been working on a few Kain, let me know if you can do these.

That is real nice.  Are they already vector graphics or would I need to convert them?  Either way I should be able to make it work.  The only problem is there is a lot of small detail in it.  With a vinyl cutter every little shape has to be cut and then you have to weed out all the vinyl that you dont want.  Can be very time consuming.  I went with the silhouettes because that is the only way I could keep the cost low.

They can be done but they would have to be much larger and take longer so price would be higher.  Need to make sure you have licensing for the images also.  Dont want to start cutting out pirated images.  I spent over $100 dollars on images this week and made a lot of my own.  If guys want the larger (about 12") stickers I have a ton of really good ones.  I guess it just depends if there is a demand for them at a higher price.  I am not trying to get rich off of "hunting-washington" decals, I was just trying to provide some nice decals so guys could show support for this site at a reasonable price.  If you look at the decals that JoshT was offering will notice they are simple silhouette designs also.  Otherwise they would take about 20mins of weeding per decal.

O.K. Kain...I've got one more question for you. I liked the first ones you did but really like decal #2 that huntnphool posted. I don't know if it has a copyright. I am thinking about 5x7 with the brush in front of the front legs removed and the username there. And there seems to be some white hanging down below the line at the bottom of the back legs that may need to be removed. Can you change it up enough to be able to use?  Maybe add a little trash to the rack or whatever. I like that one because I hunt with a bow and gun and it doesn't single out one or the other. If you can do it and if it cost a little more ..shoot me a PM.

I didn't think so. I didn't see any trademark on them and I did see trademarks on some of the others at that link.  :dunno: I believe the ones that have copyrights will have a trademark on them. but not sure.

Here is the deal guys.  For me to turn these pictures into vector graphics and cut them out it would cost a lot more than if you just bought them from the site that made them.  You could cut off the text and just buy the Hunting-Washington text from me.   ;)

Sorry guys.  It would be in violation of copyright laws to use those images for my own decals.  An image does not need to have a copyright mark to be copyrighted.  All works of art are automatically copyrighted.  Registering the copyright only make it easier to prove infringement.  I dont really consider myself an artist but I have recorded music and drawings and graphics.  If someone else used my stuff without getting written permission I would seek to stop them.  To me it is the same as stealing.   Im not accusing anyone of stealing.  It is a very confusing topic and many myths are thought to be true when dealing with this kind of thing.

Here is a good easy read to let you know about common myths about copyrights.

a mountain man and a trap would look cool,

I wanted to do something for trapping but I thought a cage trap wouldnt look good.  I could do a foothold but since we cant use those most of the time... :dunno:

I will look into a mountain man though that is cool idea.  My middle school mascot was the "Pioneers" and my high schools was the "Trappers".

Got to get a mule deer and a turkey done today.

I will work on that for you if you want but I wont put it on a hunting-washington.com decal.  Could get the wrong idea that the site is advocating killing protected animals.

Here is the turkey image.

I could do some multiple animals without the cross hairs.  I cant really add more than four animals because they are pretty small once cut out.  The whole sticker is five inches tall so each animal is only around an inch tall.

A different direction.  Almost everyone that has ordered decals seemed to want the crosshair multiple animals one.  Here is an idea for you guys that want to have multiple animals.  9" long is as long as I can make it and still keep the cost the same.  This design here is 2x9.

They would have to be pretty large.  Every one of those thin lines would be a nightmare to weed out.  Some would be so thin I would be worried about having enough adhesion to stick to anything.

Probably, you could try vectormagic.com and see how it turns out.  I have had good luck with it.  You get a couple free conversions before you have to buy it.  If that doesn't get you what you are looking for you would need a vector program like like Corel Draw and have to outline the whole thing.  You could also just have it silk screened into stickers.  Once you had a good vector copy you could have it embroidered onto the sweatshirts and hats.

Some of you guys should be getting your decals soon.  I was going to do a little how-to video on installing decals but there were already a bunch on youtube.com.

This is what I have for large elk decals.  They would have to be large stickers around 12" min.  They would also look a little different than these images because they would need a white border around the image or they would have to be a negative.  Could probably do them for around $25-$30 including shipping depending on what else you wanted to add to them.

Phool , Kain, Can you do an elk in the syle of phools #46 post ?

I am experimenting with doing my own images for Kain to print. I am taking my own pics and creating the silhouette, its the shading part that I am messing around with, I like them better than just solid white. The one in #46 for example, it has cut outs that appear as shading and looks better IMO.

I would comment that everyone seems to like these decals...

It looks like Kain was on the site earlier this month so he must still be around.

I dont want to encroach on Kains business or do anything out of line with the site owner/mods but if Kain is not really doing the decals I have access to a vinyl cutter and am willing to pay the site sponsor fee and start making these for members. Again, I would want to know Kain and the mods b
Have no objections before doing anything.

Contact Dale about becoming a sponsor. We have more than one taxi, guide, etc., so I don't see a reason not to have more than one sponsor that does vinyl.
