NICE Melanistic! Good way to end the year. Many folks will never get one
-
Wow! That's really cool!

Great day, congrats!

Not often you see a melanistic in the wild. Were you close to a release site or rearing facility? I know there are several folks who have had those for training over the years I am certain there are plenty that get away and would breed with the hens around. Still a great day in the field with a cool prize :).

Great day! I've never seen one like that. A friend got one just the opposite of it years ago and the taxidermist called it a "California Buff". It was very light colored to the point of having near white on it. I took Monday off for one last hunt too and managed one chukar. I tried the self timer twice and cut my head off both times. Lilly wouldn't stay put for any more attempts.
