Title: whisker biscuit or Rip cord?
Post by: huntergreg on January 17, 2010, 11:00:30 PM
I have been shooting the whisker biscuit for 9 years now. I am looking at putting on the Rip cord drop away rest on my bow. Does anyone have a ripcord? If so how do you like it?

Can I ask why you're changing?  I don't shoot either but when someone wants to change something I like to know what they are thinking first before offering opinions.

I saw them on youtube and thought I might like it. I don't really have any reason on changing just wanting to try something new.

Got it.  Well, they (drop-aways) are nice.  Tuning can cause some problems of arrow/vane clearance.  Some drop-away rests bounce back up right as the fletching is passing by, causing corkscrewing or tail kicks.  I'm shooting a Trophy Taker now and had to put my cock vane up to avoid this problem.  My NAP did the same thing.  Spot Hogg's rest is supposed to be eliminate this but I haven't tried it yet.  Tuning is everything with any rest but my experience is that drop-aways can be finicky.  Keep your receipt  :chuckle:

i had the ripcord and liked it, but it froze up a couple of times and had to spray it with a lube. love the full contain feature. i thought about trying the ultra rest.

Put a ripcord on my wife's bow.  It is nice.  The tip broke off one of my prongs this weekend and will probably replace with a ripcord when I do.

i have shot them, i like the trophy taker better. i had shot a bisket for years but them 2 years ago went to the drop away and love it. the ripcord is very good but i shot one that messed up on a demo bow and scared the $hit out of me and the shop owner so i bought the full containment trophy taker awsome rest.
