Thats a great buck.. I do not see any orange so I am guessing it is bow but there is no weapon in the picture. care to share?
-
I think he's gonna come on in the next few days and give everyone the story, but it was public land DIY, general season.
-
oh, and it was officially scored gross at 200 1/8. and netted 179 and change.
-

See if he will post the score sheet. 46 inches of mass? great looking buck but I dont see it based on that picture. Guys will cry about me being negative but if you are going to throw out claims it opens the door to a little friendly dialogue. 46 inches of mass means an average of 5 6/8 for each measurement which needs to be taken at the smallest area. Great looking heavy buck but even heavy bucks rarely have even one measurement this large.
-
That's definitely a smoker buck!!! Archery, Muzzy or Rifle... The only weakness from the pic is his right main.
-
Great buck! Can't wait for the story...

I thought the same.
This is an awesome buck! And a good example of how a PIG of a buck doesn't make the record book. Throw the book out the window, that deer is what I'm after!
-
thats what i thought too, when he told me. i haven't seen the horns, or the score sheet, but he read it off to me and told me, (if i'm not mistaken) it had 46 inches of mass. i believe the bases are 6 and change. i do know that it was officially scored.
-
Thats a incredible deer
-
I think I would have pooped my pants if I had that one in my sights
-
just talked to my buddy to confirm the whole 46 inches of mass thing, and he told me the wrong score. IT'S 36 3/8. SORRY to everyone. i did think 46 was a little much, but like i said, i haven't seen the horns, and he read the numbers off the sheet to me, but he mixed some up, so again sorry. oh, and he also said he will try to get a story up soon.
-
Did you get anymore numbers from him.

Great buck. A shooter for sure. I have a real hard time seeing 24" on the G2s. If the g3s are 11, the g2s look more like 16". very nice buck though
-
awesome buck!!!
My guess is that they made a common mistake and measured the G2 from the burr rather than from main beam, that would make sense at 24". With G3's at 11" the G2's cant be more than 17-18".
Who cares, I would whack him in a heart beat with any tag!!!!!

That is a common mistake. But this buck was scored by an official scorer. Atleast that is what I have been told.
-
At first glance, you notice the extremely short MB's and tight inside spread. This absolutely kills a buck on score. I see this a lot in MT, where I am assuming this buck was killed? Passed a lot of big framed deer in that state because of this. In reality, he has about 36" of mass and 16-17 G-2's - A mid 180's gross kind of buck.
A GREAT buck and one to be proud of for sure!
-
fantastic buck thanks for posting. Was not trying to be critical just did not see 46 inches of mass. Like others have posted the G-2 measurement is not correct so the buck will be around 13-16 inches smaller gross score than shows on the score sheet. 24 inch G-2s stand out like 46 inches of mass. Either is almost unheard of. Still a great trophy buck and one to be proud of!
-
i just copied the score sheet. since i haven't seen the horns yet, and it was scored by an official B&C scorer, I wasn't gonna question it too much. I did tell my buddy that 24" G2's are giant, and he told me that they are big, but this is only the 2nd mule deer he's ever killed on his 2nd mule deer hunt. i will get a chance to put my hands on it in about 3 weeks, and will take more pics and let everyone know how i scored it. just so we're all on the same page here, i don't see 24 inches on the 2's either.
-
Did I miss what weapon it was with?
-
Nice buck for sure regardless of what he scores!
-
WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?
-
WHAT KIND OF WEAPON?
Ross,
Just an educated guess, but I am pretty sure I head about that buck from a member back in November. If I recall, it was a MT buck, killed with a rifle in early NOV?
-
I was finally able to see the horns and put a quick tape on the g2's. they were measured wrong. the right g2 is around 17 and left is around 16. still a dandy buck, but i would be a little pissed about the guy who scored it being off that far. I didn't tape the whole buck out (didn't have time) so i don't know if any other measurements are off, but everything else looked right. my best guess is, without taping the whole thing out is mid 180's gross. just thought everyone on here would like to know :)
-
 Still one hell of a nice buck jstamp, thanks for the update.
-
Yeah, I'd only sell my sister for a 180" buck... :chuckle:
-
Nice 180 buck. Still a good one. Measurers make mistakes too. I had one measure an antler for me and he marked down like 8 inches for an eyeguard. I was dude, are you kidding me. I had to have it remeasured and lost 3 inches off the score. No way was I going to send it in with 8 inches for an eyeguard.
Nice trophy for him. Hopefully he didn't tell to many people he shot a 200 inch buck. Thats alot of humble pie.
