Title: Archery deer in the icicle Area
Post by: jstone on January 22, 2010, 05:24:56 PM: I havent been there in a long long time. is the early deer any good in that area for archery? Johnny Creek area up to the top of those ridges??

Post by: muleracks2 on January 26, 2010, 08:51:57 PM: There are some good mule deer hunts in the Icicle but most archery hunters go there in search of elk as well. Deer season opens on Sept. 1 with "any elk" opening on Sept. 8 - 21. I would go into an area that is good for both deer and elk. The elk are getting into the rut and bulls are responding to calls; the harvest rate on mature bulls has been running 10 to 12 percent.

Do some pre-season scouting and backpack in or contact an outfitter for some suggestions. On the Cle Elum side contact 3 Peaks Outfitters and on the Icicle or Ingalls Creek the outfitter is Icicle Outfitters. www.3peaksoutfitters.com and www.icicleoutfitters.com
