new to me just need something with a 20 inch bar not a cheap saw i want echo sthil or huskey let me know what ya got

I've got a Husky right now, have owned Stihl's as well. Both very good saw's IMO. Probably the Stihl is more Popular for sure.

ive got a stihl 310 with a 20" bar,now that i finally got a nice saw i will never go back.very happy with it.

I got an old echo- supposed to have a 12 bar but I found a 16 that fits. Runs like a champ.

the rancher 53 is a good saw,its a husky and very good on the hands and wrist..

I run an old husky 257, had it since 91, other than new ropes and plugs, never missed a lick, absolutely screams. logged with it for 3 yrs

stihl 044 with a 32" bar. doesn't get used much anymore, but makes quick work of most anything I put in front of it.

I have the Stihl 310 also, very happy with it. I think my girlfriend would be happy with it too if i would finish cutting the wood. :chuckle:

look at a Stihl MS 360....I have the predecessor, the 036P that is a real workhorse...I have the 20" on it and have a 32 to go with a skip tooth for larger stuff...If its REALLY big I can use an 066 with a 48 bar.

I have an old 036 av super with a 24" bar and a 048 with a 36" bar and love both. It's tough to beat a Stihl!

Stihl's my choice hands down. I cut/burn around 6 cord a year. Most of the time I use a 036 Pro with a 20" bar. This saw is well balanced and never quits. For the bigger stuff I have a MS460 with a 30" bar.
Note on the MS460: Every minute you have to take a step either left or right to avoid burying yourself in sawdust :chuckle:

Husky 460 20" bar ripps through the wood, had mine 3 yrs now never had a problem with it.....

Quit shopping and buy a Stihl. You'll never second guess yourself and the chips will fly!

been seeing some decent saws come through craigslist from time to time. Pawn shops are a reasonable place to find a used saw. You can usually find someone that is selling for a good reason on craigslist, and not a crackhead. I had 95 pine taken down in my back yard on Saturday, so I appreciated having my big saw available on Sunday. got about 1/3 of it cleaned up, but the rest will have to wait for this coming weekend.

Stihl. I've got a farmboss or whatever they are calling these days, and love it. Always starts and is easy to work on and parts are readily available when needed. Bought it at an auction but there are always saws for sale on Craigslist for a deal.

I got the MS390. Great saw. I even backed over it with the truck last year :bash:. Just cracked the air filter cover, otherwise still like new

Not anything new to add, i am with everyone else, Stihl, all i have ever used for over 30yrs and have never let me down.

I hate Stihl, huskeys are waaay better!

Stihl MS310 here too. Great saw, super fast, very reliable. The newer Husky's are junk IMO.

Stihl Farm boss is the best. Never had any issues, best thing ive ever bought.

Yep, 036 Pro/20" fits in my Jeep with no problem, saved my ass a bunch of times on the trail and makes camp wood like no tomorrow. I've had it for many years of great service.

:)Husky 66, 28 inch, bought used for 275.00 about 17 years ago. Has cut dozens of cords. great saw. Stihl is a darn good saw also, either will do fine for you.

Over the years I wore out a huskey 50 then bought a 53. I've been very happy with it, but mine needs a new bar. I like both Stihl's and Huskvarna's. I prefer the balance of the Husky. Each has their minor advantages. There are less Husky dealers, but that is changing. The Husky in just about any size runs at higher RPM with less torque, but the Stihl will run slower with more torque. I do like the startability of the Husky in colder weather. A Shindowa probably has the most torque but in given size, weighs more than the other quality saws.

i had a stihl 029 super with a 20" bar for about 15 years, that was one tough saw! it saw use every winter for huntin and firewood at the house. it got stolen a few months ago and i bought a ms290 as a replacement. it seems like it'll last me another 15+ years. would never think twice about anything other than a stihl when it comes to saws.

i've worked for tree services and small time logging outfits on and of for six years. that amount you are willing to spend is key here. my brother owns a stihl farm boss that cuts just fine, i believe they fall in the 200-250 range. i have a 260 which is a commercial grade, lighter and more powerful then the farm boss, cost me 525. i also own a ms 361, this one packs some serious punch and can accomodate a longer bar. it hums through through everything including hardwoods like madrona. down side, paid 700 for it with all the bells and whistles.
Yes, the 036P with the factory 20" bar, 4 chains, 32" bar and 2 chains cost me about $600 over a decade ago...that and the cap. :IBCOOL:
I walked into the house wearing the new cap, spouse noted that and asked how much it cost. I said $600 as I walked through the room...stopping to turn JUST before the outraged "WHAT??" could get out...and said "and they threw in a Free Chainsaw" and stepped QUICKLY out of the room. :yike:

Own 3 stihls and one carving echo, oldest was bought in 1969, can't remember vintage of newer ones. All run, oldest one has been over hauled once. Husqvarna according to a former stihl buddy is best saw around right now. But again was the egg first or the chicken. Can't go wrong with either.

yea i bought a stihl i looked at everything gut the stihl people were most knowledgeable, i didn't like the fact that huskys sell there saw in a cardboard box from home depot that and an old boss had two the he constantly had probs with, its just like cars every one has there own pref. I've had it for 2 months now and i love it , it rips thru the wood good and just comfortable to run.

I used to cut timber. I've wore out many saws. Right out of the box a Husky will cut circles around a Stihl. After a couple months, (more hours than most people will ever put on a saw), they change places, and the Stihl will run away from a Husky on the stump. After five or six months, the Husky will start "nickel & diming" you. I packed my Husky's out, broke down mid-day more times than I like to remember. At seven or eight months (tops) you rebuild one, sell your spare, and buy a new motor and start over. My falling partner and I ran through a lot of saws, and did a lot of experimentation with them over the years and these were our findings.
Like most said; buy a Stihl. I have to ask though... what's with all the short bar recommendations? Myself, I like to stand upright when I'm running a saw. You spend all day bent over, and it will feel like work! Get a motor that will pull a bar that you can reach the ground in front of you with, and stand up! Also, get wrap around bars! They cut the vibration at least in half, and it's much easier to run motor side down.

My O46 with a 36" bar and .404 chain is a fun saw. :chuckle: I agree with CastleRocker, but damn.. that big bar gets heavy luggin around after awhile. :chuckle:

For a SAW, hard to beat an M249. You could even cut down trees ...
