Always used victor when growing up, my little brother still uses them. That is the only brand he uses.

Belisle makes the best conibear trap on the market, but you will pay for 'em. Especially if you get your finger/hand/arm stuck in one!!

There nearly zero gaps between the jaws when closed so chances of misses and misses in general go way down. Other then Belisle, I would go with Bridger. I think they make conibeas. Tough trap. Whatever you do, don't buy Duke. Those "safety hooks" are not safe at all.

You haven't lived until you become a member of the "330 club".  It was mighty humbling to walk back to the house and get my boys to help remove the trap from my thumbs. That was several years ago, and I have regained all the feeling in my thumbs.   Now I use one of those safety clips and I don't even feel like a sissy.

Belisle Enough Said.  I have (6) 330's and (2) 280's and love them.  Safety springs will never accidently go off.  Never had a miss.  Caught a Bobcat in a dirt bank cubby set, and the cat (27 lb male) didn't even pull on the wire.  Broke it's neck.

On the other hand, when I first started my uncle gave me some Duke 280's.  I was doing a reset in the water and BAMMM! one thumb on one hand and the four fingers on the other.  Thank GOD Brushchimp was there.  He had to use the spring setters and that hurt even worse, when the springs were under max tension.  Never again will I use them.  There safety hooks are like a half jay, and the dog is not notched enough.

I got both thumbs caught in a victor 330 one time. Had to walk about 1 mile home and have my dad get me out. Learned my lesson real good on that one. Didn't even lose a digit. Good thing I had thick gloves on. That is the only brand I have ever used other than leg traps.

Speaking of being careful, I got a 330 caught on my right elbow/arm one time, was 1/2 mile walk in, had to get it off with one arm, it can be done... :bash:

Be careful, always use the safety hook until you are ready to leave, I think they could break bones...
