Any reports on bird activity from around the state? With our mild weather are things starting to happen earlier than normal? Maybe we won't need chains this year to get to our usual opening day hot spots!! :) :)
-
I see them everyday on the MT. :)
-
Birds already gobbling..46 degrees yesterday in North Central Washington. At this rate we maybe hunting poults..LOL. In years like this things maybe ahead of the game come opening day.

Sweet last year it was too late where I hunted.

phantom you ready to hit the woods or what i cant wait to get my boy out there to hopefully get him his first bird you ever thinl about hunting those birds that were in our camp walleye fishing
-
????? There were birds in your camp WALLEYE FISHING??
:P
Did they catch any?
:dunno:
were they using frogs for bait?
:chuckle:

Winters not over yet.. Let's not count our poults before they're hatched. But having a little earlier spring than last year would be nice.
-
Early spring...and then what? last 2 years I was looking for Turkey Tracks in fresh snow....
-
I'm thinking this is like most years, it looks like the late winter is going to be soft..we all get happy...then it dumps two to three feet in late march and we are all screwed.

Hey Ridgefire,
I'm ready to hit the turkey woods for the Youth Season opener.............give a me a call and we'll discuss strategy! :chuckle: We'll have to keep an eye on Turkey Slayer tho to make sure he stays focused on the task and don't try to "mount the bird" before it's on the ground. You know Slayer is getting kinda serious about this Taxidermy stuff! ;) ;) You know like counting your turkeys before they hatch..... that sort of thing!!!!!!!! :tung:
The birds we saw in our camp last year walleye fishing may be too wily for us to call in. Any turkey that has learned to put a nightcrawler on a jig might be more of a challenge than we are up for! :yike:

not hearing anything in my neck of the woods a few shock gobbles from time to time ;)

I just wanted to make sure that your priorities are in order.......................... turkey hunting before work 100%...................... :chuckle:
Sounds like the gobblers are already turning it on for the hens so it will be interesting to see what happens this year.
Anyone seeing good numbers of birds out and about?
