Title: MARLIN 512 RIFLED SLUG GUN 12GAUGE - Are they good?
Post by: Galpster on February 08, 2010, 07:46:08 PM: Looking at trading my 30.06 for one. Are they a good slug gun? Problem I see with them is you couldn't switch out a barrel and make it a bird gun again.

Post by: ribka on February 08, 2010, 08:02:23 PM: I used to have one and used it for deer in Maryland and Iowa. Shot quite a few deer. Accurate slug gun. More accurate that my 870 with a slug barrel.
Shot 2 inch groups from the bench. Mine liked Federal type slugs. Have heard some have had issue feeding the last round from the mag.

I think they can be bought for $225-$275 depending on condition. Not a bad gun for the money.

Post by: jackelope on February 12, 2010, 07:55:20 AM: buy or trade for a remington 870. there's one in the classifieds for $200 if I remember correctly..put a hastings slug barrel on it with the cantilever scope mount and you've got both.
