Anyone shoot this cal. I am going to have a gun made trying to figure out what I want to shoot. If so how is it for hunting

6.5X284 seems to be a lot of interest in this calibar over on the savage shooters site .They are saying that the .284 brass for reloading is hard to find some times . I would rather have just the 284 but thats just me .
I do know that savage does build a rifle in 6.5X284.

I think Nosler and Lapua are both making brass now. Good round, what action, barrel, stock etc are you using?
-

If I was going with a 25 , I would build 25-06 .
But I am building a .338-06 instead.

what are you wanting to accomplish? the 6.5/284 is an amazing long range round if you shoot high bc bullets and have plenty of twist. I have a 6.5/06....ballistic twins. I also have the 25/06 and 257roy. the roy is my choice for point and click, but I take my 6.5 out to the open country where I know shots will be long. it requires a range finder and ballistic research to reach its potential, but once you have done that it pretty much is possible to take shots into the 4 digit range. not that it can't be done with the 25's but the 6.5's have better bc and sd.
