Title: Howa guns?

Post by: whacker1 on February 10, 2010, 02:38:27 PM: I bought a 22-250 from wholesale sports in November and got it putting together pretty good groups at 100. I need to shoot it more to really have confidence in it going forward, but the initial results are quite good. A touch heavier rifle than a Remington, but all in all a good value for the off the shelf rifle.

It just seems unamerican to me. If you want value look at a Marlin. You can get one of those for like $350 brand new

Why does something as simple as asking a question about a rifle have to become a political debate? Why is it your business or my business on what or where he spends his hard-earned money? He asked a simple question. I'm sure that he is a grown man and he is capable of making logical decisions based on his wants, needs and beliefs... not yours. One of the great things about being an American is having choices... there is nothing "unamerican" about that. I own American, Japanese, French, German, Russian, Chinese and Swiss made rifles... I'm not ashamed of that. :twocents:

Post by: Huntbear on February 10, 2010, 05:45:33 PM: Howas are great rifles. Very strong, and will give you years and years of good service. Price is one of the selling points for them. Like was said above, they are almost identical to the Vanguard, and the S&W 1500.

If you want to do a custom, you can buy just the barreled action cheaper than a whole rifle.

He asked what we thought of them. My response is why. I have the right to voice my opinion. In this bad economic times we need to look at supporting the homeland. Just my opinion. I see lots of threads on here about how American we all are but how do we support our great country. By buying guns from japan. Not me!!

Sorry for jacking your thread!! I thought I did answer your question by saying buy American made. It supports our economy and keeps American jobs here instead of oversees. Not much you can buy that is American made anymore.

howa are one of the few rifles that guarentee accuracy.

Post by: bobcat on February 13, 2010, 08:18:28 PM: I had a gunsmith work on my Weatherby Vanguard trigger. The lowest he could get it was 4 1/4 lbs. So I ended up having him install a new Timney trigger which is set at 2 1/2 lbs.

I bought a boyds thumbhole, glass bedded and floated it, and got the trigger down below 2lbs. Most accurate rifle i own, has prined sub .2" groups :drool:
