Title: .300 A-bolt reloads??
Post by: MAGhunter on February 11, 2010, 09:46:06 AM
Anybody have a good reload they would like to share.  I have a Browning .300 A-bolt stalker, standard, with no upgrades and no boss.  I am interested in starting to reload and would like to know what works great.  I normally shoot the Federal Vital Shok 180 gr, either nosler partition, or Federal Vital Shok 180 gr, trophy bonded tips.  Both of them work great.

A 300 win mag or Winchester short mag?

If you're talking Win Mag then I like H1000 and around 81 grains........

RL22 powder showed better velocity, but I got the best accuracy with H1000 in my rifle and H1000 is not temp sensitive like the Reloader powders, so I went with H1000.

I like Winchester Large Rifle Primers, but I've also used CCI magnum rifle primers with good results.

Look at RL-19, RL-22, H1000, and IMR 4831. I use CCI mag primers. Good luck, and let us know what you find works best!

I use 70.5gr of RL19 and CCI mag rifle primers behind 180gr Swift Scirrocco's outta my Ruger all weather in 300 win mag.  Thats very close to max load with RL19 I believe so check for pressure signs in your gun before loading that high.
